We are fortunate part of the Beartooth Front is somewhat protected, so far. SE of town, below the East Bench. Meeteetsee Trail Rd. to Face of the Mtn. trail today, about 12K hike from 1680m start, to 2nd stream crossing 2050m. Too much deep slush beyond that. 8C and lite NE breeze, cooler today than yest. . This part of the Front drops S well into WY. Much of which burned in 8 hrs. 15JUN2021 Robertson Draw fire, 12000 ha. Terrifying from town, getting close. #climate #montana #dogs #hiking

Ranger Sarah spotted what may be a The Yarrow's Spiny Lizard, or Mountain Spiny Lizard, it is perhaps the most frequently spotted lizard here in the monument. Most commonly they appear black with metallic, shiny scales that reflect in the light -- but they can also have different appearances depending on age and sex.
