This bracelet is more than just a piece of metal—it’s a promise. A reminder of the struggles I’ve faced, the mistakes I’ve made, and the weight of life that has at times crushed me. I haven’t always been the best son, brother, boyfriend, or friend. I’ve let the pressure break me, and I’ve fallen short more times than I’d like to admit.

But no matter what, that little boy I adore will never know me as anything less than the best uncle. To him, I am strong. I am constant. I am someone he can always look up to. He won’t see the mistakes or the past—only the uncle who has overcome, who has grown, and who is now the best version of himself.

As a society, the US (and rest of the world, but mostly the US) need to address men's mental health and toxic masculinity, and the culture of HATE that is growing. Even if guns are controlled (and they should be), vehicles and knives and hammers can all be weapons in the wrong hands.

AP News · New Orleans: 10 dead, 30 injured after car plows into a crowdA driver in a pickup truck who officials said was “hell-bent on carnage” sped through a crowd of pedestrians in New Orleans’ bustling French Quarter district, killing 10 and injuring 30 in an act being investigated as a New Year’s Day terrorist attack. The attack occurred around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday along Bourbon Street, known worldwide as one of the largest destinations for New Year’s Eve parties, and with crowds in the city ballooning in anticipation for the Sugar Bowl college football playoff game at the nearby Superdome later in the day.

"Most human beings spend all their energies devising ways to increase their pleasure and decrease their pain. Buddhism does not advise that you cease this activity altogether. Money and security are fine. Pain should be avoided whenever possible. Nobody is telling you to give away every possession or seek out needless pain, but Buddhism does advise you to invest time and energy in learning to deal with unpleasantness, because some pain is unavoidable. When you see a truck bearing down on you, by all means jump out of the way. But spend some time in meditation, too. Learning to deal with discomfort is the only way you’ll be ready to handle the truck you didn’t see."

Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English

I started this mastodon account yesterday as a fresh start and a blank slate. I do not have an interest in seeing politics, hateful posts, or anything negative and impure. I am here for love, compassion, and mindfulness. If you have any interest in or any similar concepts, please give this post a favorite, or me a follow so I can follow back.

I want to cultivate a timeline full of respect, unity, love, and compassion.
