I had a dream I was living in a castle with family and friends. At one point I started to wake up and then fell back to sleep which led me to realize it was a dream.
I started going around warning everybody it was a dream.
Some folks didn't believe me and thought I was joking or playing a game.
I was doing things like levitating giant rocks like Luke Skywalker and saying, "big fucking deal, I can levitate a fucking rock".
I know I force ligthninged the crap out of someone who told me "you'll always be a boy".
But the reason I'm tooting this at all is because of the person who had been like my lifelong nanny or something. She'd known me since birth basically.
She was lamenting loudly. I know she said, "I have a lifetime of memories! What will happen to them?"
And all I could say is, "I don't know."
There was someone else who had a new toy that was like a remote controlled car but was a living thing. They were so excited and showing it off and telling me all about it. I was so taken by their innocent joie de vivre, that I only smiled and nodded and decided not to tell them it was all about to end.
Bee.
Goodnight John Boy.
Dream a quilt of truths to lay upon their bed of lies…
Bee.
‘Closing time, you don't have to go home
But you can't stay here..’
Goodnight folks.
Dreams allow the ordinary find their extraordinary.
@Remittancegirl The American #Dream has become the American #Nightmare thanks to Trump and not wholly American Musk.
In a later, cinematic dream, I played a "Star Wars" video game set after the sequel trilogy, except in this reality Luke and Leia were still alive and Ben survived instead of Rey. I played as Ben, who was once again tempted by the dark side, and the longer I played, the more immersive and real the game became. Eventually, I split off from Ben as my own character. I wish I could continue this dream another night to see how the story plays out.
In one of last night's dreams, there was a hamster-sized moopsy with silvery grey fur. They were tame and trained not to drink my bones, and they curled around my wrist like a silky soft, cuff-style bracelet.
I had a nightmare: was talking to a conspiracy nut/maga type. A woman. That’s enough of a nightmare. Right? Then she says “Gravity is a lie… its magnets” um. The feeling I got was sadness, disbelief and anger. Is there a word for this feeling??? #dream
Bee.
Everybody quiet down now and get some sleep.
‘Sweet dreams 'til sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries far behind you
But in your dreams, whatever they be
Dream a little dream of bees…’
A systems #programming language with all these characteristics does not exist, because these features are at odds with each other. But in a #dream, we must not let aspiration be bounded from above by attainability.
• Haskell-like syntax
• ML-like semantics
• Erlang-like resilience
• Elm-like courtesy
• Rust-like tooling
• OCaml-like compilation speed
• C-like execution speed
• Smalltalk-like simplicity
• JavaScript-like ubiquity
• Python-like popularity
• Fortran-like longevity
On the upside, we programmers have such a low standard for what constitutes a good language: if the designer manages to nail any two of those characteristics, most of us are pre-programmed to like that language.
