A serene garden scene features a wooden bridge arching over a koi pond, surrounded by vibrant autumn foliage. Colorful gold fish swim beneath the bridge, while diverse plants and rocks add to the tranquil atmosphere.

The repairs of roads and bridges in the #Asheville area post-#Helene will take years, as you'd know if you'd ever seen the devastation.
Per the #AVLWatchdog

And man, that horrible Federal government has done nothing but help, paying for road crews, debris removal (even in the #Arboretum, apparently) in addition to food, water and lodging.
Gods help any region when the next disaster strikes with these clowns in control.
I've posted photos before of these great ceramic public artworks at the UC Davis Arboretum, but today had better lighting so I took new photos.
This is a semi-circular wall of plants and insects.
Despite UC Davis being a public university, blind folks aren't really welcome - there's next-to-no Braille anywhere at the Arboretum. This is one of the few tactile works, but it's incised in Roman letters.
Yesterday we went back to the NC #Arboretum in #Asheville, for the first time since #Helene. The formal gardens were open, but nothing else. There was a pile of tree debris in the overflow parking area as big as 3 houses, and it was coming and going as we visited. The number of trees lost on the property is staggering.
They had several of these, which I thought was perfect.
2/2 The #MortonArboretum is located in #Lisle #Illinois, a far suburb of #Chicago. It was established in 1922 by Mr. Joy Morton, the founder of the #MortonSalt company. Morton's father was J. Sterling Morton, who founded #ArborDay in 1872.
The #Arboretum is comprised of over 1,700 acres of land. All of the trees and plants are carefully chosen and tended by expert staff.
With my heel spurs and arthritis, hiking is nearly impossible, so this was a lovely way to enjoy the woodlands and the many colors of the season.
1/2 This past Friday afternoon was spent driving through one of several long routes in the #MortonArboretum in #Lisle, #Illinois. The fall colors and scenic tree varieties along the nine-mile route were beautiful, and my camera phone could not do them justice.
The two-head #sculpture is "Of The Earth" by artist #OlgaZiemska. The heads were "created from reclaimed and pruned tree branches and other natural materials gathered from various locations throughout the Arboretum’s 1,700 acres.“

If you can only grow one shrub in your garden, then I would recommend the #Japanese milk tree or #Neoshirakia #japonica.
This example was at #Westonbirt #Arboretum a few years back.
We had taken our house dragon Dimitri along for an outdoor photo shoot, and he simply had to get a picture sitting in it.
Reasonably slow growing and #spectacular in the #autumn.
Dense information given to sighted visitors to the UC Davis Arboretum.
There are no displays in Braille, nor QR links to audio.
