Mmh…

So I made a fix for a #Lutris installer (NFS Porsche) and created a PR on the git of who made the first one.
It was rejected without any comment. Also said person seems to be completely inactive for years.

Should I just yolo it and take over the Lutris installer on Lutris.net? Said person didn't credit themself in the corresponding field, I just found them through the file download links. 🤔

The current NFS Porsche Unleashed installer will fail unless you got one specific version. #Linux

If you ever shared the #Lutris debug log (as requested by both the Forum as well as github issue page) while your #GOG account was connected:

You might've shared your secret API key publicly.

The Lutris logs seem to NOT hide *any* personal information in debug logs' HTTP requests. This includes access secrets, client IDs or refresh tokens.

If you ever shared a Lutris debug log, de-auth sessions and change passwords immediately.

This week's Linux and FOSS news:

LINUX NEWS

Linux Mint team plans new Cinnamon app menu, Firefox root certificate expiring in older versions, website backend rewritten and containerized:
blog.linuxmint.com/?p=4811

Gentoo offers bootable QCOW2 images for cloud deployment, without the need for manual installation:
ostechnix.com/bootable-gentoo-
(That's actually pretty cool, I could imagine beginner friendly distros like Linux Mint doing the same - but maybe with VirtualBox or VMWare images, because Windows users are probably more familiar with those - so they can try out Linux without the installation and then if they like the experience, they will be more motivated to learn how to install it on bare metal.)

Armbian 25.2 released with support for new boards, Linux kernel 6.12 LTS:
9to5linux.com/armbian-25-2-rel

KDE Plasma 6.3.2 released with Animated WebP and GIF support for Spectacle, bug fixes:

Burn My Windows GNOME extension gets 4 new effects:
omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/02/4-new-
(They can't burn my Windows because I don't have it installed 200IQ lol)

Linux kernel 6.14 RC4 released with driver fixes, filesystem improvements, core kernel enhancements, networking adjustments:
ostechnix.com/linux-kernel-6-1

NVIDIA 570 driver released with VRR (variable refresh rate) support on multi-monitor setups, new conceal_vrr_caps kernel module parameter to enable usage of features on some displays such as ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), support for querying Dynamic Boost status, 32-bit compatibility support for the NVIDIA GBM backend, support for the systemd suspend-then-hibernate method of system sleep etc:

I've been putting off switching to #linux before #W10 goes out of support because I didn't know if #ffxiv would work on it.

@Noyesster told me that #Fedora with #Lutris works 'flawlessly' so I thought I should start working on it.

First thing is replace my last 500 Gb for a 2Tb one, and I decided to go for the #Crucial MX500 (I¡m replacing a 2'5" disk with another).

Turns out, only #fuckingAmazon has it, can't find it anywhere else here in Barcelona.

What a disgusting world we're living in.

Happy I ❤️ Free Software day!

I'm particularly thankful for #linux #nixos #firefox #signalapp #element #haskell #ghc #rust #neovim #lutris #wine

There are so many programs and libraries that make up my day, every day. The world runs on free software. I'd be here for hours if I tried to find and make it all.

I'm looking forward to discovering hundreds (yes hundreds) of new software in the next year.

As I’ve written before, I lock my games into an encrypted tomb to keep me from playing them when I should be working. Much harder than managing where games are installed, though, is managing where they store their saves.

Using Lutris and the magic of environment variables, I’ve found a solution to story all of my game saves in a single parent folder.

benjaminhollon.commanaging my game saves with environment variablesSetting some environment variables in Lutris lets me manage exactly where games are saving my progress.
