Is the Church of England (and perhaps by extension organised Christian religion) in an existential crisis after sexual abuse(s), the resulting silence of the church & now Justin Welby's resignation from being Archbishop of Canterbury?

On one level, I hope so!

But on another I wonder what, for those of Christian faith, will replace it... although trust in the CofE has been brutally squandered, perhaps a grassroots movement can remake the Church in a more positive image?

It's why these stories do not surprise us now, we expect them. We expect the cover-up, we expect columnists to defend this state of affairs by complaining about 'Wokeism', we expect the weak response from Authority, we expect nothing to change institutionally
