I'm starting a thread on #HammockCamping...

Feel free to comment and even tell me where I'm wrong, or if there's a better solution.

I'll start with the big one... how many lines/ropes/straps should it take to fully pitch a #HammockTent?

I have a strong bias that the answer is no more than four!

I propose a general "Four Point Hammock Suspension Rule" (two straps for the hammock itself (with bug net), no more than two for the rainfly)

Note that the fly does not need to be diamond shaped, this is a general rule-of-thumb.

My point is: if you have more lines you increase complexity, increase time pitching and repacking, decrease access, and have more things to trip over. 😉

Put another way: If you get the same performance with fewer lines, that is a good thing. 👍

If more lines are required to achieve the same performance, that may indicate a weaker design. 👎

Moved the weekend to Tuesday-Wednesday to camp at a state park. No computer/Internet, but do I have the right book to relax or what? 😀

Lots of wildlife of course, especially cardinals one of which visited our campsite.

(posting this at a break in civilization)

EDIT: added a picture of our camping stove, because pleased with how well it works for it cost us ($40 at Costco, $4.50/cylinder at Walmart).

Finally got a chance to use my #hammockgear Circadian Pro - not overnight, just an afternoon hang.

I'm very happy with it from that limited trial - The hammock itself is almost scary lightweight, if it weren't for the high reputation of hammockgear and their products, I'd be worried about it's longevity.

Hanging it was dead simple, the included tree straps made it easy to hang without damaging the trees I used, and it was incredibly comfortable to hang in for hours

Excited to got my quilts in and take it on a proper overnighter!

The weather has been pretty nice here in my part of Texas. We've got mild temps and unusually low humidity. It's a short window when it's like this here and such a great time to go #camping. It really sucks that it's during our busiest time of the year at work when it's so hard to take time off, if not impossible, to go.

But I really wanna go. I haven't been in a long time. Somebody take me camping!!! I even have this cool hammock with the mesh that keeps the critters out.

See? These photos are from two years ago when I first tested out my #hammock
Still haven't used it. 🙁

Also... do these qualify as ThirstTrapTuesday pics? I mean, I do want to go camping but...

drink up y'all.
