Ryanair fliegt also seit gestern Abschiebungen aus #Österreich.
Ryanair postpones the introduction of digital-only boarding passes.
The Irish airline is postponing the introduction of paperless boarding passes from May until the beginning of November, when passengers will be forced to use digital boarding passes.
Ryanair not only wants to simplify the check-in process, but also save over 300 tons of paper waste a year. This is likely to be part of its goal of becoming CO₂-neutral by 2050.
‘No new restrictions have been introduced’.
In recent weeks, the Ireland-based budget airline Ryanair has been denying boarding to Russian citizens on flights to Estonia, citing unspecified new restrictions from Estonian authorities. However, Estonia’s border service insists it hasn’t made any changes to its rules regarding Russian travelers.
Meduza explores the possible reasons for this apparent new policy.

"According to the plaintiff, Ryanair violates the GDPR principle of data minimisation as it obliges users to create a permanent account when they want to book a flight on its website. The principle of data minimisation means companies should process data that is limited to what is necessary.
Noyb also believes that Ryanair nudges users to select a verification process that uses biometric facial recognition.
Ryanair pre-selects the facial recognition verification process when a user wants to book a flight. If users opt-out, they have to provide Ryanair with a hand-written signature and a copy of their national ID. Noyb believes this infringes the GDPR principle of consent.
Noyb also quotes the European Data Protection Body's (EDPB) 2022 guidelines to say that facial recognition can pose unacceptable risk for people.
The EDPB notably called for a ban on artificial intelligence for automated recognition of facial recognition in an 2021 opinion."
It never ceases to amaze me that RTÉ's news editors classify these as 'Business' stories:

So happy living in Ireland means we’re essentially forced to fly Ryanair.
Best airline ever. Totally cares whether you live or die and doesn’t in any way see you as a cell in a giant spreadsheet.

Meanwhile, Ryanair asshat-in-chief’s thoughts on the matter of the flying death traps:
As usual: @EuroBSDCon was fantastic. I talked to many interesting people about #sudo, #syslog_ng, and of course many other topics. I'm safely back in Budapest, however my travel was not so fantastic, "thanks" to #Ryanair... I hope to share my experiences in a longer post later this week.
Ah #ryanair has an amazing definition of boarding. It involves the previous flight's people leaving the aircraft.
Is it only me, but how do I cancel my #ryanair flight?
I don't want a refund because the flights were so cheap that the admin fee eats that up
Feels weird I can't cancel so someone else could book that seat?
Michael O'Leary offers to fly immigrants to Rwanda
I don't fly anymore, but if I did, I'd be boycotting Ryanair.
