He has a #CS degree *and* #Linguistics from a well-known #NorthEast school. He had a great co-op at a prestigious research institution. He worked as a TA to the #software students and was prominent in the linguistics lab, contributing to a paper he helped present at a national conference

He doesn't know I'm posting this, but I believe he's looking for a software #engineering position, remote or in the #NorthEast #US. If there is related linguistics work so much the better.

Dangerous air quality hits New York as brush fires erupt in #Northeast

Firefighters battled brush fires in #NewJersey and Brooklyn.

"#NewYorkCity officials issued an air quality alert Saturday morning amid several #brushfires burning in the U.S. northeast, including one in #Brooklyn's largest park the previous night.

The city's Office of Emergency Management said the Air Quality Index (#AQI) is forecast to reach 101-150 on Saturday. Under those conditions, the air is not safe for people with sensitive breathing issues and the elderly, according to the federal government's #AirNow resource."

After a dry past few weeks, abnormal dryness and drought continue to spread across the Northeast, now covering 93.65% of the region. Extreme drought conditions emerged in southern New Jersey this week.

The dryness and drought have contributed to wildfires in New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. On Wednesday, a wildfire in New Jersey prompted evacuations.

U.S. #Drought Monitor map: "more than 77 percent of the nation is considered abnormally dry.

Earlier this week, dry weather prompted National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists to issue special weather statements across the #Midwest and #Northeast regarding favorable #wildfire conditions. The dry weather also has contributed to falling water levels at multiple lakes and reservoirs, spurring several cities to issue a call for citizens to reduce their water use."

The tristate area around New York City experienced deadly overnight flash flooding after historic heavy rain drenched the Northeast in the United States. Southern Connecticut saw 10 inches of rain over a 12 hour period, while Long Island was pummeled with seven inches over three hours. The rain is expected to continue north, where Vermont and New Hampshire are bracing for a deluge. NBC News has more.
