@ente your service sounds great and something that is needed in this world of data theft & exploitation by big tech and brokers. However, the current planned regulatory proposals #EuGoingDark #Chatkontrolle etc. give me big doubts about data privacy and integrity and keep me from using cloud services I cannot personally control, especially ones which are located in the EU. I will not subject my family photos to possible #masssurveillance initiatives by the EU.

The #EUGoingDark 42-point plan for after the election has it all: breaking e2e encryption, "lawful" data retention, prohibiting encrypting metadata, threatening jail to developers for non compliance ..... If we thought authoritarian political currents are moving against privacy then this is an entirely new level ... patrick-breyer.de/en/first-ins

P.s. we need more #chatmail servers and contributors so that our #deltachat app-dev conglomerate provides resilience against such authoritarian pipe dreams

Patrick Breyer · First insight: 42 key points of the secret #EUGoingDark surveillance plan for the new EU CommissionAfter Sunday‘s European elections, the EU is planning to reintroduce indiscriminate communications data retention without suspicion and force manufacturers to allow law enforcement access to digital devices such as smartphones and cars. This is the “confidential” 42-point plan compiled by a “high-le

EU citizens, your vote for the European Parliament election matters much more than you might think.

From #ChatControl and #EUGoingDark all the way down to #ClimateCrisis: Some important decisions are due.

We noticed populist right-wing forces co-opting "open-source" by "supporting its adoption".

However, they stand for isolationism (hidden behind "tech sovereignty"), and against international collaboration, openness and transparency; which are what makes #FreeSoftware awesome.

Choose wisely!

Apparently #ChatControl was just the beginning.

Now parts of the EU-Commission and several EU Governments want to make it possible to track locations of anyone via GPS on-demand, make hiding Messaging metadata illegal, introduce something like ChatControl where End-To-End-Encryption effectively becomes illegal, on-demand tracking of any car, and a bunch of other insane proposals.

This entire thing has been nicknamed the "EU Going Dark" proposals.

EU Government officials and alike of course would be exempt from these rules, it seems.

Finaly everybody can read the #EUGoingDark surveillance plan to reintroduce blanket #DataRetention and circumvent #encryption.

❗Beware: Not a single line of this document can be considered a basis for any discussion. This is because the group is non-transparent, undemocratic, politically biased and works with the Going Dark myth, which assumes that law enforcement and security can only be achieved through more surveillance.
