just had the most fun #POTA contact ever with KJ6ER and KG6UO while they were activating US-3473 in California. They were having such a great time and chatting with everyone, it was a blast to have a QSO with them and I spent like 20 minutes just listening to all their other contacts.

What the actual heck? How did I go from not hunting DC even once roughly a week ago, to having worked 20% of the #POTA parks that are even in DC when I checked my awards page this morning? Clearly I don't pay a lot of attention to who or where I'm hunting...

Another quick #POTA activation in Kansas on the way back home. Notes to self:

1. Pack a common mode choke in my POTA go bag.

2. Be mindful of just how close I'm setting-up my antenna to my operating location. (Being in a hurry is never a great plan.)

Fun trip! And dang, but I do love POTA!

It's been a fruitful #POTA filled vacation. I've managed to log both DC and ND, leaving nine open spots on the bingo card for US states hunted.

The JPC-12 antenna continues to be lopsided, transmitting better than it hears; I generally get good reports from others, while being able to give a report as strong as I get perhaps only a third of the time. Strange.

3) We ran down to another POTA spot on the Wisconsin border earlier, mostly to check it out for future reference. Found out @Kb9vbr was there the day before! It's a little more humble, but it could be a fun challenge in the future.

4) Next goal, get the pole on the bike and get out this spring/summer. Then visit some of the obscure WMAs/SNAs and State Forests that don't get the attention the parks here in the Twin Cities do.

THAT was fun!

Finally activated a park for #POTA - the beautiful Frontenac State Park just south of Red Wing, Minnesota Along the Mississippi River.

I found one of those super-easy 17' crappie poles for cheap at a local store and strapped it to a tree w/bungees. The 5 watts performed nicely in the wind (although some complaints about audio, not unexpected with a TruSdx. Thinking of ways to fix this...)
