Yesterday, Tuesday 15th April 2025, was fun at God's Pantry Food Bank.
We held our official Open Day, including Ribbon Cutting.

The line-up included 3 staff members of over 20 years employment:
Danielle - 30 years
Myself - 25 years
Jack - 23 years
The Board President stood next to me.
In the middle was our CEO Mike Halligan.
Next to him was ex-Board-Member and Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

Attached are photos of the Ribbon Cutting line-up and of myself, the official Doorman. (Church friends will love this!)

Today I shall be fully working from home.
Tonight I shall be attending our Church Growth Group in the home of one of our families. https://mycpointe.com/growthgroups/ #Church #GrowthGroup

Keep on taking care of yourself.
Also, literally take care of your neighbour. Ours was rushed to hospital last evening in an ambulance.
Love you all.

Court rules federal government cannot freeze #Maine's funding from #USDA

by WGME StaffFri, April 11th 2025 at 8:46 PM

"A court says the federal government cannot freeze Maine’s funding from the Department of Agriculture.

"This comes after the USDA announced it was freezing Maine’s funding when the state would not comply with federal #TitleIX interpretations.

"Under this new ruling, the court is granting Maine a temporary restraining order, saying the federal government must unfreeze and release federal Department of Agriculture funding back to Maine.

"That includes money for things like #SchoolNutrition and #FoodBank programs.

"The Trump administration cannot freeze or withhold funding while this restraining order is in place, and the two sides will have to meet in court, though a date has not been set.

"Maine Attorney General #AaronFrey says this temporary restraining order confirms the Trump administration did not follow the rule of law when it cut program funds that go to feed school children and vulnerable adults.

" 'This order preserves Maine’s access to certain congressionally appropriated funds by prohibiting an unlawful freeze by the administration,' Frey said. “No one in our constitutional republic is above the law, and we will continue to fight to hold this administration to account.' "

Quick update on myself medically.
History: On 19th February 2021 I received a concussion, and developed Post Concussion Syndrome.
Most of the symptoms faded over the years, but this year they came back strongly.
These days my mind is so focussed, but only for 4-6 hours. After that time I totally fade and need to nap to "reset my brain". Once napped I am good to go again.
I informed my Primary Care and she:
a) Referred me back to Baptist Health Neurology. That appointment is on 18 June 2025.
b) Wrote a note for my Director and HR Director at God's Pantry Food Bank:
"To Whom It May Concern: Please allow Peter Paterson (04/30/1967) to work from home as needed as he is recovering from post-concussion syndrome and requires frequent rest. If there are any further questions please contact our office."
My Directors have worked with me, and allowing me to work split days and work from home days.
#Concussion #PostConcussionSyndrome

Today I shall be going into work for at least 4 hours, catch up on Friday's paperwork, come on home, nap, eat lunch, and work for the rest of my 8 hours remotely. #FoodBank

Take care of yourself my friends and for ALL around you.

Yesterday I attended the Hands Off! Rally downtown Lexington, KY.
It was a blessing to be there among compassionate people concerned about their fellow residents and citizens of the USA. At the same time I could feel a lack of certain hope in their personal lives, the same hope I experience through knowing my Lord Jesus Christ. It is my prayer not only that their daily lives would be increased by a change of government, but also that they and all would come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
#HandsOff #HandsOff2025

After my lunch and nap I plan to work for a few hours on my current MissionAssist project of typing up Bible extracts from a local language scanned book. Such needed work for these people.
#Bible #MissionAssist https://missionassist.org.uk/

Tomorrow I shall be going to my #FoodBank office, to do the same job I have been doing for a few years, but under a new Vice President boss under the updated department title of Finance and Support Services.
This Food Procurement & Reporting Officer will be part of the data team.
Exciting times, especially as we just past a rolling 12 month period of over 50M LB weight distribution. When I started in July 1999 we were distributing 6M LB per year.

I hope and pray that you have a most fantastic day.
Be there for all around you.
I am here for you.

Saturday 05:31
The weekend is finally here.
Since I don't really sleep full nights, but rather a series of naps I wake up quite often and wonder what time it is now.

Yesterday I worked from home, having taken home a bunch of paperwork from my #FoodBank office on Thursday to catch up on. The idea is to work 8 hours per day, but I am pretty sure I worked over 12 hours yesterday and got FULLY caught up with all I wanted to do.
I was so intense in the work that I forgot to attend TheBugcast live chat at 16:30. Once I realised what time it was, the show was over.
So, now listening: https://thebugcast.org/2025/04/05/846-shoot-your-shot/
Dave and Caroline pick 4 tracks each, so the fact that 7 of the 8 tracks are from the USA is totally random. The other is from Germany.
One of the artists is Catherine Corelli, originally from Moscow, Russia, my new personal Kentuckian friend that I look forward to meeting in person next month. Her track "Sick" was played.

Don't really have any plans for today, apart from rest and housework.
It's going to be an extremely rainy day today anyway.
I had thought of going to downtown Lexington, KY this afternoon for the Hands Off! gathering at 15:00-17:00, but as I said, there is a rain storm expected. Plus parking!

I hope that you have a relaxing Saturday and weekend my friend.

Slept well last evening, waking up in the early morning to a Tornado Warning. At one point Dragon-in-Law Eva, Arianna, & myself huddled into the hallway bathroom for a degree of protection. There was a second Warning. We survived the high point of the storm, and I fell back asleep for a couple of hours.

Now fully awake and eating leftover slices of BLTizza Pizza from Villainous Gaming Pub with my mug of Coffee. First Coffee in a couple of days!

#FoodBank work plan today is to start off at home catching up on email and booking in some orders that arrived while I was out.
Later this morning I shall go into the work office and catch up on paperwork.
I also have to complete a bunch of end of month reports by the end of this week.

Tonight I look forward to joining my Church Men's D-Group virtually at 20:00.
Great bunch of guys that I totally trust.

I hope you have a most excellent day.

Tuesday 06:33
Technically a day off work on #PTO as I have a certain fun procedure tomorrow afternoon and start prep later today.
No solid food, no creamer, etc, so I shall be drinking Ginger Peach Black Tea this morning.

I was up in the middle of the night running #FoodBank end of month reports, with the most important part sending my CEO an email of information.
Once I sent that email I practically crashed out into bed.
Today will be a mixture of eating what I can, working on other reports & emails, lots of naps, and most importantly keeping out of Arianna's way as she works from home. #WFH

A friend of mine is visiting at lunchtime with a few items that he made for me.
I will post details afterwards.

So, as you can see I really don't have much to report today.
I hope that your day is as peaceful. If you do get stressed please feel free to reach out for a private chat. I am home all day.

Monday 12:26
Yeah, I didn't Toot / Post an updated life report this morning.
I wanted to get to work just after 06:00 in my #FoodBank office, and was running tight on time.
Worked just over 4 hours then came on home.

My next time of work shall be tonight probably around midnight, after the nightly data-sync has finished.
I shall be running my monthly snapshot reports, with a deadline of 06:00, but shall not be working that long!

I am on #PTO for the next 2 days, as I have a procedure on Wednesday afternoon, that I need to prep for. You know exactly what I mean! *grin*
So no eating of solid food after midnight tonight.
After that procedure Arianna will be taking me to my choice of establishment to EAT!!!

When I arrived home today I started sorting and washing laundry, made a late brunch, and poured myself a stout.
Yesterday I started watching the movie "The Electric State" on Netflix, and finishing it now.
Is it just me or does Chris Pratt basically play the same character in every movie?
#ChrisPratt #TheElectricState

Washing machine has chimed to say it is finished, and I need to change over into the dryer and start washing another load.
After the movie is finished I shall probably have a good long #NAP!!!

How is your day coming along?

The second is for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. We all know the world's falling apart, and supporting our local food banks is a good idea. Well, they've had to move warehouses six times since 2020(!!!). They're trying to raise money to purchase their current place. It's a lot of money, sadly, but it's worth it.

After a whole bunch of napping last evening, I woke up in the middle of the night, made Coffee and ate Lasagne (as you do!), worked on a MissionAssist project, then went back to bed.

Now fully awake again, but brewing up some wonderful Laos Coffee from Every Tribe Coffee to make sure!

I have fully recovered from the Stomach Flu from last weekend.
This past week of work at the Food Bank has been extremely busy. #FoodBank
Therefore I am resting up today as much as possible.
That said, I know Arianna wants to clean up our back porch, so I will probably assist with that, especially the heavy lifting part.

Take care of yourself this weekend, those that you love, and everyone around you!

Have been totally wide awake for a couple of hours, and now getting ready to go to my #FoodBank office for 06:00.
As has been my pattern this week, I shall work 4-6 hours there, come on home, nap, eat, and get back to work from home.
Had a really good chat with my boss Vice President and the HR Director about helping me with working hours and location (office / home).
Today I shall placing a bunch of purchased food orders to take us through the end of the fiscal year to June 2025.

Since there is currently still a 4 hour time difference between Eastern US and UK, I shall be attending The Bugcast live chat for the livestream at 17:30.
