Followup on my discovery of the Whisky app for installing Windows stuff (notably, games, notably especially for me, Skyrim) on macOS:
My attempt to install Whisky was shaky, it wasn't entirely happy with the current version of the Steam Client. I _was_ able to get Skyrim installed and running, but I had to jump through a hoop to make Whisky download a previous version of the Steam client. Which seemed suboptimal. Also, I had weirdness with Skyrim's sound once I got it running.
So now I'm also going to investigate Crossover. This does the same thing as Whisky, and it's also open source. But it's not free. So I'm going to play with the trial version and see if it's more solid. More to come!

TIL how to run the latest version of Skyrim (Anniversary Edition) on an m4 Mac using Crossover (Wine), Mod Organizer 2 and SKSE64 (to run mods). It was surprisingly easy. The most subtle part was configuring library overrides in Wine to get spoken dialog to work. And needing to use 96 KHz audio to get rid of audio clicks.
Hats off to the many engineers who made all this work. Amazing.

Using #CodeWeavers' #CrossOver for #Linux (#Wine) is such a delight. Both #Scrivener and #AeonTimeline work flawlessly with it.
I have tried to use #MarkWhen to replace Aeon Timeline but there simply is no comparison, and I rely so much on Aeon Timeline to keep track of all the bits and bobs of my stories, and my timelines when I'm #writing #fiction.
