Followup on my discovery of the Whisky app for installing Windows stuff (notably, games, notably especially for me, Skyrim) on macOS:

My attempt to install Whisky was shaky, it wasn't entirely happy with the current version of the Steam Client. I _was_ able to get Skyrim installed and running, but I had to jump through a hoop to make Whisky download a previous version of the Steam client. Which seemed suboptimal. Also, I had weirdness with Skyrim's sound once I got it running.

So now I'm also going to investigate Crossover. This does the same thing as Whisky, and it's also open source. But it's not free. So I'm going to play with the trial version and see if it's more solid. More to come!

Thrash metal and crossover (with a little death metal for good measure) can make great bedfellows when handled with passion, talent and caution. Such is the case with the Richmond Virginian trio (yes, the same as Lamb Of God) founded in 2016 by Knox Colby (vocals), Will Wagstaff (guitars) and Zach Monahan (guitars-2024), (of whom […]

TIL how to run the latest version of Skyrim (Anniversary Edition) on an m4 Mac using Crossover (Wine), Mod Organizer 2 and SKSE64 (to run mods). It was surprisingly easy. Hats off to the many engineers who made all this work. Amazing.

"I Can Help" is a #rockabilly song written and performed by #BillySwan. Released in July 1974, it became a big #crossover smash some four months later, reaching No. 1 on both the #Billboard #Hot100 and #HotCountrySingles charts in November. Although Swan had other charting singles on both the Hot 100 and country charts, the song is generally recognized as his #onlyMajorHitSingleRelease. However, Swan had continued success as a songwriter for other artists.
