Angela Korra'tiFollowup on my discovery of the Whisky app for installing Windows stuff (notably, games, notably especially for me, Skyrim) on macOS:My attempt to install Whisky was shaky, it wasn't entirely happy with the current version of the Steam Client. I _was_ able to get Skyrim installed and running, but I had to jump through a hoop to make Whisky download a previous version of the Steam client. Which seemed suboptimal. Also, I had weirdness with Skyrim's sound once I got it running.So now I'm also going to investigate Crossover. This does the same thing as Whisky, and it's also open source. But it's not free. So I'm going to play with the trial version and see if it's more solid. Maybe I'm missing some lore stuff (Skyrim is my only Elder Scrolls game), but it seems as though the Molag Bal and Boethiah quests should have been swapped. Molag Bal is the prince of deception and lies, whereas Boethiah is the prince of violence. But Molag Bal's quest involves beating a cornered helpless man to death, whereas Boethiah's involves tricking someone into touching the cursed altar.

pcbeardTIL how to run the latest version of Skyrim (Anniversary Edition) on an m4 Mac using Crossover (Wine), Mod Organizer 2 and SKSE64 (to run mods). It was surprisingly easy. The most subtle part was configuring library overrides in Wine to get spoken dialog to work. And needing to use 96 KHz audio to get rid of audio clicks.Hats off to the many engineers who made all this work.
