It is a beautiful afternoon here in Maui. I have curated a specific aesthetic in my office and we have arrived at the time of year where one of the silicon wafers lights up in the afternoon sunlight. It makes me happy to see it lit up with a full rainbow of colors.
The second oldest digital computer in the world is now working
Well done @usagielectric for getting it in a running state!
The oldest is the Harwell Dekatron at @tnmoc in Bletchley Park, which is also very cool and well worth visiting
Larry Masinter @masinter and Frank Halasz @fghalasz will be the guests of the next episode of "Do you speak tech?", the show Patrick Domanico hosts at Near FM community radio in Dublin. They will chat about Medley Interlisp, their memories of Xerox PARC, the computing world then and now, and more.
On March 10, 2025 at 19:00 UTC tune in to 90.3fm in the Dublin area or listen online here:

the technology revolutions that followed five years after 1996 and 2007 reshaped [..] business and society at large.
Without the leverage of the free open source software on generic x86 servers, you don’t get [..] Google, Amazon, and Meta.
Without cheap hard drives to go into iPods, and cheap broadband to download music, you don’t get Apple's resurgence.
