¾ oz mezcal espadín
¾ oz Black Blended Rum ❺
¾ oz overproof Pot Still Lightly Aged Rum ❶

Garnish: orange peel
Method: Build in glass, stirring with the rock. Garnish with an orange twist.

Stirring my way through the cold weather. I found it hard to pick out the base spirits. Rather, they intensified the bitters and amaro bringing out strong spicy flavors balanced out nicely by the syrup. I found this one on IG chips_classic_cocktails.

HUMBUG OLD FASHIONED

2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 barspoons humbug spices
1 barspoon maple syrup
1 oz apple brandy
1 oz rye

Garnish: orange peel
Method: Combine all ingredients with ice in a stirring glass and stir. Strain over a large rock, express orange peel, and garnish.

I saw this original from @CityzenWhit@c.im and knew I had to stir it up pronto! It uses a fun combo ingredient called Humbug Spices from Brian "shakerofspirits" Maxwell (see link for recipe). A delicious sipper!

With fall settling in I'm often looking for more booze-forward cocktails to warm the soul in the evening. Despite the name, this one reads like a tequila old-fashioned (not a Last Word riff). I found this one from @stephane.foisy.186@instagram.com
