While shooting a little experimental sequence for our VFX class at Schwarzenbach-Talsperre, I came across this lonely charging station, which fitted our sci-fi setting quite well. So I decided to put our dressed up actor in the scene and took the chance to shoot some of my first analogue stills. I'm really happy about this precious moment and the vibe I got from the pictures.

A couple people I know call these “cat nine tails” or “cat o’ nine tails” which, it turns out, is the name of a type of whip historically used for corporal punishment. I’m guessing this might a be a regional term for this plant, has anyone heard it outside of Maine? I’ve always just called them cattails.

While “lobster pound” is colloquially used along the coast of Maine to refer to a casual seafood restaurant—often located by the ocean—where you can eat lobster. In the case of these photographs, the term can also mean a built enclosure in a cove or harbor to hold a large amount of lobster.
