Fifth is #WooCommerce, a WordPress plugin

Difficulty: Moderate to difficult, depending on your comfort with WP
Pros: Easy to install *if* you’re a WP expert, buyers don’t have to leave your WordPress site to buy your book, low transaction fees
Cons: Requires a WordPress site and hosting, more issues than other sales platforms
Cost: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction in the US + the cost of your WordPress site

Along the same lines, what is the best alternative for a online shop today. An option that isn't Shopify. I would think that there are lots, but its not something that I have looked into for years.

Is Woocommerce a viable thing with the manboy tantrum from PhotoMatt? Are there other options?

An option that has a very easy, or at least well documented, process to go from Shopify is probably the best path forward.

What do the #WooCommerce experts recommend for school photographers these days? I've used WooCommerce Photography in the past. Is it still the most acceptable option, or would I be better off building something with a mix of extensions?

I must admit I'm half-tempted to go with something other than #WordPress. There are quite a few platforms specifically targeting school photographers nowadays...

Hmmm okay - I need some help to make the right decision for my #wordpress #woocommerce shop that also has #PaidMembershipsPro installed. For anyone who is more familiar with payment gateways between two separate companies (woo and PMP)

I have been given the option to either go for a woo comm bundle that will activate this new payment processor with them - or a separate payment gateway. Which I assume I then attach to PMP.

.... is there any reason why I wouldn't get the woo bundle?

A fourth option would be to try to build something myself. I looked into whether my #WooCommerce store could sell Pateron-like monthly supporter subscriptions processed through Stripe like the rest of the store, but it seemed like it would be pretty tough to do. If anyone out there knows a good solutions here, let me know.

#WordPress.org is Matt #Mullenweg’s personal website (source: the #Automattic account on X.com). Matt is also the owner of our largest competitor, #WooCommerce. The conflict of interest was always there, but in the weeks following WordCamp US 2024, Matt crossed several lines that make it crystal clear that he has no intentions of running WordPress.org as an #open and #fair #platform.”

Okay. . . anyone else here have to deal with #WooCommerce on an Ecom site?

I'm about to pull my already short hair out of my head trying to figure something out.

My brain may have broken in the process.

I need to get the "Add to Cart" button to redirect to the individual product. All I can figure out is how to hide the button or change the text. I'm like. . wicked frustrated right now.

Matt Mullenweg on the WPengine saga, nice to hear a direct explanation.

Take home messages:
- WPengine is owned by venture capitalists Silverlake.
- This is a long running multi year effort to get Silverlake to contribute back
- They had the option to pay either with money OR by paying developers themselves to work on WordPress
