Day Six

“Dr #SimonGrainger, a senior #climatologist at the bureau (#BOM) , said #Australia also had its joint warmest start to any year at 2.08C above average, tied with the January to March period of 2019.”

and the PM (#Labor) and opposition (#Liberal / #LNP) are having a pissing match over who can whisper into the ear a deaf, blind foreigner 🤪

The #lnp and #murdock hate the #abc, alway have, hence the Trumpian promise to cut funding is no surprise. Maybe a rollback of media ownership would be a better path to bring some balance as cutting the ABC is a direct attack on liberal views in Australia.

The Sydney Morning Herald · Dutton tells ABC to show ‘excellence’ or he won’t ‘support the waste’By Olivia Ireland, Calum Jaspan, Natassia Chrysanthos, Matthew Knott

Day three:

Dutton is following a long line of #LNP leaders (Howard, Abbott, Morrison) who ditched Canberra to live in Sydney.

“A woman managed to get close to Dutton and unfurl a #banner calling for no new #gas or #nuclear. There’s now been about half a dozen events - mostly hosted by the Coalition - “bird-dogged” by #RisingTide.”

Duttons camp has a leak. ☢️🏭

And the 'rot' is everywhere #LNP sympathisers have been inserted in our national insitutions' leadership roles. Why should the prestigeous ANU be spared the rot?

What impact will this #union vote of no confidence will have is yet to be determined - this must not become a #Union vs #Grifting #Leadership issue. Students and academics should be a priority concern.

"The move comes after it was revealed Bishop used the university’s funds to pay her business partner as a consultant, and that Bell held a second job at Intel while in her role."

The Sydney Morning Herald · ANU staff pass no-confidence vote against chancellor Julie BishopBy Caroline Schelle

The #UnitedStates did not listen to #Trump on the electoral trail and they are paying for it in spades. Hear what #Dutton says here:

“We will end the reckless $20bn rewiring the nation fund. We will stop the $10bn housing Australia future fund, which has not built a single additional home.
We will scrap Labor’s $16bn of production tax credits over the next decade for critical minerals and green hydrogen.
We will reverse Labor’s increase of 41,000 Canberra-based public servants – saving $7bn a year.”

and also here:

“We will accelerate new investment in gas projects by reinstating a $300m strategic basin plan and include gas in the capacity investment scheme.
We will invest $1bn in a critical gas infrastructure fund to increase gas pipeline and storage capacity.
We will put in place ‘use it or lose it’ stipulations for gas drilling companies – so offshore gas fields are not locked up for years.”

And BE WARNED Australia, put the #LNP first o #AusElection25 and it will come about and then some…. Think before you cast your vote!

Cuts to fuel excise favour the wealthy, reduces funding of roads, and gives nothing to those who do the right thing and take public transport or have electric vehicles. The #LNP will always support such regressive measures. #Labor's election sweetener is marginally better in that the tax cuts appear mostly progressive. The #LNP have never supported, or understood, action on climate change.

We should be much more progressive in taxation and use funds to improve public transport in all forms. We no not need or want nuclear or massive gas projects. Renewables with grid stabilisation, already mostly negates the idea that we need gas or nuclear to meet baseload demand. #FederalElection2025

Tax cuts for people earning less then 40k or whatever the second bracket is vs people who own 2-4 cars and probably not in that tax bracket. My gut feeling is this is just a #fossilfuel handout. #lnp #budget #theguardian #emilywind
