For those of a historical bent, here's a really interesting interview with one of the National Guard captains deployed to Kent State on the day of the shootings. He mentions something not commonly remembered, the same guardsmen deployed to Kent State had previously been deployed against a Teamsters strike and a race riot. Trump to students and educators: "Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on the crime, arrested."
So much of the Free Speech president.
And remember what happens when Free Speech is suppressed on college campuses. When students are vilified for their dissent: Kent State, Jackson State, People's Park.

Please go for those of us who can't.
My brother was a freshman at Kent. That awful day he was moving his future wife out of a dorm. May 4 was his 20th birthday. They escaped physical harm but were traumatized for a long time.
Over the years, he faithfully attended May 4th events, right up to the year he died. Another of my brothers now teaches at Kent. He will be there.
I am too far away to make the journey, but I appreciate everyone who can.

@DemocracyMattersALot Here's an interesting analysis/history of illegal #presidential orders. Bottom line, the military can't arrest or detain a president, especially given the #SCROTUM ruling but they can def ignore illegal orders. For example, #KentState could have been prevented if the #OHNG just refused to be used as cops.

Shortly after midnight, they opened fire, killing two African-American students and wounding twelve others. No cops were ever arrested or indicted. This occurred eleven days after the massacre at Kent State. A repeat seems eminent today, with the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses and the violent assaults against them by police and Zionist vigilantes, and the calls by several politicians for the National Guards, and Donald Trump’s calls for student protesters to be deported.
