Trump and Musk can give orders, but they rely on a compliant military to enforce their agenda. Historically, service members are often outspoken leaders of resistance and refuse orders which compromise their moral integrity. They seek legal assistance from the Bay Area Military Law Panel (BAMLP), the local working group of the Military Law Task Force (MLTF) of the National Lawyers Guild. to understand both the consequences of dissent and how to separate from the military. We expect an increased need for legal counsel as service members are ordered to carry out deportation policies, suppress domestic protest, and enforce the administration’s global agenda.
This program will be an overview for lawyers, law students, legal workers, counselors and medical care providers who want to advise and represent active-duty personnel who engage in protest activities, speak out against illegal or immoral policies, or resist illegal orders.
No prior military law experience necessary. Veterans welcome. No court litigation expected.
