As always, if you run into any issues or anything looks out of place please let us know. If you have any thoughts, questions or concerns about these features don't hesitate to reach out. If there are any enhancements to our tracking platform that you'd like to see, we're open to suggestions! Thanks!
7/7
2c) We've also added a new filter to the Indy Vision Zero Tracker website (for Traffic Fatalities) that lets you filter down to Identified Victims, Unidentified Victims, or Incidents with Multiple Victims. Additional filtering based on victim demographic data will be added in the future.
6/7
2b) We know that certain communities are more negatively affected by our city's unsafe streets. Being able to look at demographic data alongside location data can help brings these disparities to light. This is something our city doesn't want to talk about, but we absolutely should be.
5/7
2a) In addition, we're also starting to publicly track demographic data for victims [*when available*]. This is something we've done behind the scenes for a while now, but we're going to push that data to the web going forward. Eventually we'll add statistics and reporting on that demographic data.
4/7
2) We now (sadly) have the ability to track multiple victims from a single incident.
This has unfortunately come up multiple times now that we're tracking traffic fatalities and serious injuries for all road users. Example: 2024 saw two separate incidents where more than 1 person was killed.
3/7
1) We now have the ability to record multiple news stories for a single incident.
This will be useful to track coverage of an incident from multiple news sources.
It will also allow us to more easily follow along with incidents over time — i.e. if an arrest is made, goes to trial, convicted, etc.
2/7
We've been busy working on some backend changes this week to support some new tracking features across Indy Pedestrian Safety Crisis (@IndyPedCrisis) and Indy Vision Zero Tracker (@IndyVisionZero).
We'll outline some of those changes in the following thread.
