Dieser #Flughund auf #Fihalhohi hing zur Frühstückszeit ganz gechillt in einem Indischen Lorbeer-Bäumchen ... ich nehme an, er hatte auf der #Insel eine genauso schöne Zeit wie ich!

Well that was hilarious. Went for a walk around a local@park with my daughter & grandson. Worked out at about 4.5km. We came across a new play area, so of course master 2 & Ms 72 (me) had to give it ago. I could hear him laughing all the way down. So funny

The 2023–24 season for Australia's flying-foxes has been a devastating one – for reasons that largely remain a mystery to researchers, thousands of bat babies (also known as pups) have been left orphaned.
Annette Ruzicka worked alongside the carers on the front line to capture the devastation, along with the heartwarming connection between humans and the rescued flying-foxes.

Australia’s grey-headed flying-foxes (Pteropus poliocephalus) aren’t just adorable; they’re vital pollinators that disperse thousands of fruit seeds each night as they feed.
But while they might seem to fill the skies at dusk, why are their numbers declining?

Australia’s grey-headed flying-foxes (Pteropus poliocephalus) aren’t just adorable; they’re vital pollinators that disperse thousands of fruit seeds each night as they feed.
Sadly, hundreds of flying-fox pups are orphaned yearly as extreme heat events and collisions with man-made structures cause fatalities for their mothers.
Thankfully, specialist carers are raising these orphaned pups and protecting this notable native species: https://ausgeo.co/batbabies

We live under the flight path of wildlife traveling between native forests in #CoastalNSW. At midsummer, these creatures are all very busy feeding on, pollinating, propagating (through excreting seeds), and regenerating not only the great native forests, but many private gardens.
Why not give your local native birds and wildlife a gift for #2024 by planning now to plant edible native flowers, shrubs and trees wherever you live. Or find a Bush Regeneration group to work with on local public lands.
Before long, #Biodiversity Value will become a measurable contribution to the value of both public and privately owned land, including yours. It’s the beautiful gift you give to yourself, your children’s children, our wildlife, and the planet.
