"The Foreigner Pays the Tax".

Cartoon by J. S. Pughe for "Puck" magazine, 1895, about William McKinley's high tariff policies.

Caption:
"JUST WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN EXPECTED -
He built his house on a sand-heap; and the rising tide is making short work of it."

It sorta feels like someone might have taken inspiration from the top half of this cartoon without bothering to look at the bottom half.

Happy Pi Day, neighbors. Coincidentally, it is also the birthday of Albert Einstein, one of the most famous physicists and Nobel Peace Prize winners as a reminder for us to stay curious.

I like the old political cartoons of 100+ years ago - especially when they're dealing with issues that are still relevant, or after long time suddenly relevant again.
Here's one from 1909 by Joseph Udo Keppler about tariffs. Bartender labeled "Congress" plying drunk Uncle Sam from bottle labeled "High Protection". Caption "Quit Nothin'! Why, a little more of the same'll make you feel O.K.!"
