Happy Wednesday
Rosie Garland from The March Violets is my pick for #MusicWomenWednesday
Here's the Bandcamp link to their album Crocodile Promises that I missed last year.

Visitors - "Moth" (1979)
One of my favorite years for music. This is a band from Edinburgh, Scotland.
They only released three 7" EPs, but they were all great. John Peel was a fan. He apparently bankrolled the release of their second single. The band lasted only a year or two. I found this by way of a compilation released in 2016.
It's a really fun and unique mix of post-punk and synth-punk. I see the entire EP on on YT
Post Punk Classics. No 61 in an occasional series:
Girls At Our Best! - Politics!
My debut album was released five years ago today...
...but I don't feel like getting nostalgic.
I have a new album out.
Goth song of the day: Silent EM - Heart Sinking
god, i love synthpop/darkwave with a synth so cheesy that it sounds like its ripped straight from a '92 disco polo track
i discovered this artist recently and been binging them non stop in the past week, great vibes
MAGAZINE
Rays & Hail 1978-2011
2024 Worldwide 2xLP Compilation
Yellow #vinyl
Give me ALL of the Magazine, and just hook it straight into my veins.
Nice job here by Howard Devoto of curating this, & rearranging it for its 1st vinyl press.
19 tracks here as opposed to the CD’s 14 song track list.
Every Magazine scorcher is here, and if you’re just starting to dip your toes into the band’s waters, this is an amazing introductory course.

BUZZCOCKS
Singles Going Steady
2019 Europe Reissue
Front to back, song to song, one of the greatest compilations of a band’s body of work.
“I Don’t Mind” may hold the record for the song I put on the most mix tapes/CDs for people. Desert island song for me, & I think I’d have to take the whole record.
Just a perfect record to pump at full volume, any time, any place.
Scale of 1-10… a 40 billion.
JAPAN
Obscure Alternatives
1978 Canada pressing
This was the last of Japan as “glam #newwave band”, as they started to enter Phase 2 of their career.
Sylvian is experimenting with vocal style here, & when you get to the closer “The Tenant”, you hear the Japan we think of now, from Quiet Life on.
The “more #art less rock” Japan.
I love this album though.
“Rhodesia” has a total #reggae vibe, and the two ‘singles’ are really good.

Goth song of the night: Your Funeral - I Want To Be You
I don't post death rock here very often, mainly because it's not my favorite goth genre, but here's the song of that flavor that I personally like the most.
Insanely raw 80s yearning song, by the femme trio Your Funeral, which dropped this single and then disbanded shortly after.
“I was #rebelling against school, against #conformity,” … “The music was so different. The pace, the energy, the style but also the attitude: society sucks!” — #AngelaJaeger (R), 1978
