And here's video of Bib #5, Matthew Schmidt, taken on my phone, returning from the first leg of the Gunflint Mail Run.
That's Zeena's plaintive whine/woo of excitement, feeling left out!

Here's video of Bib #8, Rita Wehseler passing by, her team being very professional and not paying any attention to our huskies!
Video on my old Panasonic Lumix, the camera I carry for documenting any interesting/rare birds we might encounter while out and about.
Second was Bib #5, Matthew Schmidt from Sawtooth Racing, Grand Marais, MN. We enjoyed some hot drinks on the shore for a while, but the next teams were apparently far behind, so we took our restless huskies back around the bay in front of our cabin to follow a moose trail.
That's our cabin with the green roof and gray-green siding on the right of the third photo.
We caught one more team passing in view between a couple of islands on the way back, but we couldn't read the bib # from this distance.
Gunflint Mail Run is on today! We shuffled out with our huskies and our Hok skis on Poplar Lake to watch the first teams return on the first leg of the race from a safe distance on the shore of an island near the race track.
Here is Bib #8, Rita Wehseler of Stoney Creek Sled Dogs from Tofte, MN, first back on Poplar Lake.*
* We presume they're first! We had been out for a while and hadn't seen anyone else before. This race doesn't have trackers and isn't posting live to their website. https://gunflintmailrun.com
