Bonus Episode: Ariel Chats With Aislinn Clancy, Green Party of Ontario Incumbent

In this bonus episode, Ariel talks with Aislinn Clancy, Green Party of Ontario candidate and incumbent MPP for Kitchener Centre in the upcoming snap Ontario Election. This isn’t an endorsement, but a discussion that hopes to prod solarpunk talking points into the realm of politics. Aislinn and I talk about Green Party of Ontario goals for clean energy, supporting local workers, and how to channel your passion for social justice issues that you care about into empowering activism.

Do these actions orient our political elites towards #GreenPolitics? Does it make the people more receptive for such politics? I've seen people on here claim something like that: the actions are supposed to move the so-called #OvertonWindow, to change the terms of civil discourse such that it will be easier for moderate, left-of-centre politicians to advance climate-friendly policies. I doubt whether the soup actions actually have that effect. 3/10

jacobin.comLet’s Stop Talking About the “Overton Window”Socialists should be making well-thought-out proposals for a better future and building the class power to bring that program into reality. The idea that our purpose is simply “shifting the Overton window” by spouting the most radical-sounding slogans is an unhelpful distraction.
