Be me.

Obtain fancy new #GamingPC in order to play newly released game.

The game runs perfectly, but turns out not to be all that fun.

Start thinking about going back to playing #Doom instead. On hardware that is complete and utter overkill for it.

🤦‍♂️

What's everybody else playing these days? There's gotta be something I can use all this compute for.

I want to build my own Linux gaming PC (never built my own PC before) & I'm trying to decide exactly what to get.

I'm staying the hell away from Nvidia so that means AMD GPU. Should I get an AMD CPU too or is Intel better? It's my impression that AMD is more committed to open source but maybe that's specifically vs Nvidia & not Intel? But then I heard something about new AMD CPUs not even being able to boot Linux because of some Microsoft Pluton shit, what's up with that? #PC #GamingPC #Linux

It's been years (decades!) since I was in my custom PC building phase, so I'm going to ask you fellow Mastodon geeks for help here. My 16yo is building a gaming PC. He has done his research, and has the following in his cart (at the upper end of his budget). Any red flags here? #gamingpc #NZXT
