A new discovery for us today. A bank of large, mature rhododendrons hidden away on a side lawn at Gabriel Park in Portland, Oregon.

Meetings throughout the day. Just got back from my daily constitutional. The flowers are beautiful in my neighborhood.

Container succession planting. As the red tulips are ending the purple ones rise to their turn to bloom.

Rot-orangefarbener Goldlack in einer Nahaufnahme. Schärfe und Unschärfe liegen dicht beieinander und sorgen für Spannung im Bild. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Blütenstempel und den noch nicht geöffneten Knospen der Blüte, der Rest des Bildes ist in großen Teilen unscharf.

First tulip bloom in my garden. Many more to follow, if the squirrels and rabbits don't get to them first! (photo attached)

In the foreground is one red tulip in full bloom. Next to it and behind it are many more tulips that look like they will bloom within the next 72 hours. In previous years, it was a spectacular display of flaming red and yellow.

Spring has really exploded over the last two days. Birds, butterflies, flowers everywhere!

Last evening's flower walk, with ravens playing in the thermals at the edge of the canyon. The purple flowers in the second photo are desert verbena, abundant on the cliff edge and lower down but not at higher elevations.

Hikers walk ahead of the camera, near a canyon rim. The rearmost hiker is only partly visible and is carrying a folded sheet of paper (for taking notes). The canyon rim is just to the left of the camera, and you can see a bit of the Rio Grande in the distance down in the canyon. Three ravens are soaring in the thermals near the canyon edge. It's near sunset so most of the canyon is in shadow, but there's still sunlight on the far rim and the mesas beyond. There's a hill in the distance at the photo's center.

On the edge of a canyon, the hike leader is explaining something, while a woman at the far left of the frame takes a picture of the abundant purple flowers you can see hidden in the tall dry grasses. Another person's hand, carrying a folded sheet of paper, is visible at the bottom right corner of the photo. Behind the people, you can see a rock outcrop showing that under the grasses and flowers is basalt. Down in the canyon, you can see a short stretch of the Rio Grande, and in the distance is a mountain range.

This bleeding heart is the most massive bleeding heart I've ever encountered. It's about three feet tall now. I prefer the native one, but it was a nice surprise to find in our new garden and apparently really liked the feed I did in early spring.
