The arrival in #Belgrade is a bit brutal. There are no large-scale protests this week-end, but not much information as the new bus station is out of town and still under construction according to Google Maps and satellite views.

I find a tram stop, but all trams seem to go the other direction, and some passengers leave saying (in English) there are no more trams. I wait a bit more, and eventually enter the first tram 10 minutes later.

Did Serbia use a similar sound cannon to Romania in 1989?

Catalin Ranco Pitu, the former head of Romania's Military Prosecutor's Office has told DW that the sonic weapon allegedly used during the massive protest in Belgrade on 15 March was similar to the one used by the regime of communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu during the Romanian revolution in December 1989.

Meanwhile, #Serbia is moving along after the most massive #protest ever in #Belgrade last Saturday.
Price of #eggs is not a problem, so there's an informal social movement of targeting regime's most prominent people in local communities with eggs.
It started about a month ago in the town of Kraljevo where the mayor and his people cannot show up in the streets without being thrown eggs at for over a month.
Yesterday in #Niš, a synchronized action of egg throwing targeted various prominent local regime people. This is how the director of the public hospital looked like last night.

Absolutely terrifying! #Serbia's government responding to peaceful #protests In #Belgrade with a prohibited long range #sonicweapon, never used on civilians before. Symptoms include nausea, loss of balance and hearing, sometimes with permanent damage. Newswire #AP confirmed there was a strident sound, that was particularly audible because it happened during a minute of silence. Pro-Russian President Aleksandar #Vucic denies the prohibited weapon was ever used. apnews.com/article/serbia-soni

Let me tell you a story. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered last Saturday in #Belgrade. They were silently paying respect to victims of the canopy collapse, which sparked the biggest #protests in the history of #Serbia, when the sound cannon (LRAD) was fired at them. It was fired with a sole intention to bing chaos, push people to stampede and get them hurt, even killed.

So, what the #EU does after that? A "constructive" meeting. Shame on you @EUCommission!
