To my fellow Canadian cycle enthusiasts, if you're in the market for some new cycling kit, check out 7mesh.com. A Canadian company (BC) that makes a variety of what seem like pretty nice cycling clothes for roadies and mountain bikers. Partner and I ordered a few things and they just came in the mail. We haven't actually ridden in them yet, but they fit well and seem like pretty good quality.

At FOSDEM in Brussels (2025-02-01/02) we've met the #Baba team, which develops an Android app for @panoramax (the "self-hosted Street View" based on @openstreetmap – also see wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Pa). We wanted to bring their app to the "libre space", so we discussed how we could make that possible. We found a way to get the app ready for #IzzyOnDroid 🥳 So be prepared for today's AndroidAppRain, to find this app that lets you contribute!

Many thanks to Alexis for making this possible 🥰

@GeofCox

For quite a while now I try to exert #BABA (Buy Anything But American). That originates, I think, in Canada. Since I buy hardly any processed foods, it is very easy for me to buy non-US-stuff. But also for the non-food stuff I check where it comes from. Does my money benefit a US-Company, I do not buy. Well, that is easier said than done, to be honest. But I do my best.

@insl it seems like files uploaded this way are not sync'ed back to the phone. I created a workflow for the pics I take for #panoramax: take pics, which sync to NC, which sync to computer; later upload and delete them from the computer and NC, and zap the #baba dir on the phone.

I guess I will use #rsync under #termux to delete files locally for my general pics (my eyes are not what they were, so I can check pics better on my computer; also, I have better tools there).

Hey @panoramax I installed #Baba and I saw ih has option for single shots. I walked 30m today in a new city and took pics of several stuff for mapping, including details like opening hours. Would it be fair game to upload those even if they don't quite fit the "street level imagery" motif?
