Richard Lent<p>The flower stalks of carnivorous plants, especially the low rosetted species, are often very long in relation to the size of the rest of the plant. This is thought to enable pollinators to visit the flower without getting caught in the trap leaves. Could have divided it into three plants (photo 2) but didn't because I didn't want to shock it. So, repotted the whole thing into a larger, taller pot (photo 3). Richard Lent<p>Just in from California Carnivores: Drosera roseana, a species of pygmy sundew native to southwestern Australia. There are about 10 plants here in a 2 1/2-inch pot; individual plants are barely 1/4 inch across. Apparently they can get as large as a penny in diameter. This species is supposedly "easy" to grow.
