WonderdogEvening, Toots! Went to the dentist this morning, got the other side of mouth cleaned - couldn’t finish the job last week, because the stupid <a href="https://bne.social/tags/TrigeminalNeuralgia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrigeminalNeuralgia</a> pain was just being too annoying. (This is me saying “I didn’t want to cry too much at the dentist’s when my face hurt a lot.”) I’ve booked in for my next appointment in 6 months instead of my usual 3 (curses, <a href="https://bne.social/tags/Sjogrens" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Sjogrens</a>!) in the hope that maybe I will have had neurosurgery by then. And since I was close by, I went in to another hairdresser, and managed to get an appointment for next week to get something done to fix this haircut. I am NOT going back to the original place (although I probably *ought* to make them fix it, I think they’d make it worse) I don’t mind the length - it could be shorter. But I don’t need a triangle wedge of hair like a cartoon character, thanks! Tomorrow morning is blood test results at the GP. Fingers crossed!

WonderdogAlso (Gah, Caity, you’re talkative today!) strange side effect of new medication that I’m noticing - maybe? The neurologist started me on <a href="https://bne.social/tags/Gabapentin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Gabapentin</a> 300mg 3 times a day for <a href="https://bne.social/tags/TrigeminalNeuralgia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrigeminalNeuralgia</a>. I’ve been on that dose for a couple of weeks now. I trained as a classical/concert band musician, my ambition was to be an orchestral flute player, went all the way through AMEB for flute and theory/musicianship (5th grade piano.) All the going to music camps (thanks, heard the jokes). Did the usual choirs, (alto) etc. Got a bit derailed and didn’t go further, but did play in concert bands later. Then, long period where music was pretty dormant. I stopped enjoying it somehow. It’s been starting to come back. Then Gaba, & POW, I’ve GOT music again, I can HEAR the orchestra, I can SEE the notation (not completely, it’s like, coming back in bits, like a rushed exam, writing down a score?) So either I’m going psychotic or something’s waking back up? Anyone else? I don’t mind it, just… hmmm.

WonderdogArvo, Toots! Mental Health Nurse Skype complete, I’m off for a fiercely competitive (but fun) round of Trivia later today at the mental health place. Always a treat, because the players are all autistic, and we tend to argue the answers! 🤣 And in new, fun, <a href="https://bne.social/tags/TrigeminalNeuralgia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrigeminalNeuralgia</a> news, I have been deaf in my left ear since yesterday arvo. (Maybe it’s not TN but something else, and I am not going to look at Dr Google.)

WonderdogThis facial nerve pain (pretty sure it is <a href="https://bne.social/tags/TrigeminalNeuralgia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrigeminalNeuralgia</a> as the GP suggested and has referred me to the neurologist to look at) has been horrible the last few days. Well, most of this week. Today it's been awful. Even the fan blowing near me is sparking ZING ZING ZING and then persistent pain from my left lower jaw right through all that side's teeth, up through my cheek, across to my temple, into my eye, across my forehead, down my nose. And my ear aches. Washing my face or brushing my teeth hurts. Forget about chewing on that side. Or lying on that side. Sometimes my glasses are too much (and I can't see without them.) It's tiring. You really don't need to comment on this. I wanted to let you know why I haven't been saying much. Thanks, Pocket Friends, for being here. 💜💜💜

To that end I was 'rescued' by my forbears in the shape of the 200+ love letters they left behind - so I turned them into the <a href="https://sunbeam.city/tags/podcast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#podcast</a> 'My Love Letter Time Machine' and now spend large chunks of my life in the 1880s. Mainly to escape the pain, but also in the hope that it might eventually keep me and the cat fed.
