Peter Gleick<p>The Sustainable Development Goal targets for <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/water" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>water</span></a> (<a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/SDG6" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SDG6</span></a>) are severely, dangerously falling short. At current trends by 2030, 2 billion people will still lack safe water, 3 billion safe sanitation, and 1.4 billion without basic hygiene. The target is universal coverage. <br>Achieving this will require a massive 6-fold increase in progress for safely managed drinking water, a 5-fold increase for sanitation, and a tripling of progress for basic hygiene services.</p><p><a href="https://sdgs.un.org/goals" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">sdgs.un.org/goals</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
