It's time for #MarshMadness!

This picture was taken not in a marsh, but in the Roman ruins at Al-Bass in Sour (Tyre), Lebanon. The frog is, however, a marsh frog (Rana ridibunda), so I think it counts.

At the risk of injecting a political note into a celebration of all things marshy, Al-Bass is adjacent to a Palestinian refugee camp that has been repeatedly bombed or shelled by Israeli forces, most recently in 2024.

One of the many species of animals encountered at the Merritt Island National Wildlife refuge is Alligator mississippiensis, or the American alligator, or just a gator.
It can be dangerous to walk in overgrown areas near water, as alligators have good natural camouflage and can remain perfectly still for long periods, making it easy for an unaware photographer to trip right over one.

My stress over having a messy enclosure came to a head yesterday and I just shut down. Had a little cry, did some relaxing activities.

Pao is home now, she is safe and healthy and . . . well, not exactly happy, but she'll get used to it. The mulch is going to be much better for her, in terms of humidity but also how much she can dig and burrow.

Woke up today feeling refreshed and ready to start working on OUR enclosure.
