H Noss 🏳️‍🌈<p>Neurodivergent characters come in all shapes, sizes, experiences, quirks, and more. In this blog post, you’ll find writing prompts for neurodivergent characters based on common experiences, from special interests to overstimulation.</p><p>I created these writing prompts and character ideas to celebrate Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an annual week-long event about awareness, acceptance, and education for neurodiversity. </p><p>Being neurodivergent myself, I think it’s always a good idea to have authentic representation in fiction, whether it’s a short story, novella, or novel, and regardless of genre.</p><p>If you know any neurodivergent writers, please feel free to send them the link!</p><p><a href="https://hnossproofreads.co.uk/writing-prompts-for-neurodivergent-characters/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">hnossproofreads.co.uk/writing-</span><span class="invisible">prompts-for-neurodivergent-characters/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/WritingCommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritingCommunity</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/WritingPrompts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritingPrompts</span></a></p>
Jenny Mathiasson<p>Happy <a href="https://glammr.us/tags/NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek</span></a>! </p><p>I'm Jenny, I'm a <a href="https://glammr.us/tags/neurodiverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neurodiverse</span></a> <a href="https://glammr.us/tags/conservator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>conservator</span></a> in Wales. I like my brain. It works differently than yours in a number of ways, and that's frankly quite cool.</p><p>On a practical level it means I approach tasks differently, I often struggle with not knowing what's expected of me, and I behave outside of norms in some ways.</p><p>Anyway, shout outs to my fellow neurospicy people! This week we should remember that we're actually very awesome.</p><p><a href="https://glammr.us/tags/NeurodiversityWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeurodiversityWeek</span></a> <a href="https://glammr.us/tags/NCW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NCW</span></a></p>
Hireillo - Hire an Illustrator<p>It's Neurodiversity Celebration week! The world needs all kinds of brains and ways of thinking and doing 🧠 ❤️</p><p>So many of us working in the creative industries are neurodivergent, where our wonderful, weirdly wired brains can really be a benefit and allow us to generate unique ideas. Many of Hireillo's fabulous members are ND, as are Darren and I.</p><p>Have you got any helpful tips for fellow ND creatives?</p><p><a href="https://illo.social/tags/NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek</span></a></p>
TetraLogical<p>To mark <a href="https://a11y.social/tags/neurodiversitycelebrationweek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neurodiversitycelebrationweek</span></a>, we're sharing this article from the WCAG blog called Digital Accessibility and Neurodiversity: Designing for our unique and varied brains.</p><p>WCAG goes beyond standards, advocating for inclusivity in design. Integrating these principles benefits all users, including those with neurodivergence, often overlooked in design.</p><p><a href="https://wcag.com/blog/digital-accessibility-and-neurodiversity/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wcag.com/blog/digital-accessib</span><span class="invisible">ility-and-neurodiversity/</span></a></p>
Richard Littler<p>It's <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek</span></a>. I'm still vaguely taken aback (and, conversely, not at all surprised) that I belong to this tribe, for want of a better word. It must be in the family as another member was diagnosed recently. I wish I'd known earlier that I was a giraffe living in a society built around ostriches and that being unable to lay eggs does not mean that I am failing or deficient in any way. <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/adhd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>adhd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/asd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>asd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/autism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>autism</span></a><br><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/actuallyautistic" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>actuallyautistic</span></a></span></p>
