Im on the fence of the m4pro mini vs the base m4 max stdio. Sure i could get a 48gb ram but you are basically at or over the studio price with less ports/cooling etc. Most are overkill for my needs but i plan to have this at least 5 years so it seems that even though base studio is 36gb ram bumping it up to to 48 requires a chip bump too. obrhoff<p>It mostly depends on the life situation. Since COVID, I work from home, and if I travel, I rarely need the performance or could survive for some time without it.</p><p>What I like about going with the combo is that I would expect the Mac Studio to outlast the MacBook Pro. I currently use an M1 Pro from 2020.
