ChrisR<p>I have a <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Zeiss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zeiss</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Ikonta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ikonta</span></a> 524/16 camera that belonged to my late father. The case is in poor condition, and I've been hoping to get it restored. I wanted to continue using his case, rather than buying a replacement, if possible. Asked in many places, and been told every time they couldn't do it. Today, finally someone in Edinburgh told me this was the kind of thing they could do...</p><p>BUT</p><p>Because of the labour involved in making the top, they told me the cost would be at least £200! Sadly, no.</p>

ChrisR<p>Just a quick pre-war example of a <a href="https://photog.social/tags/DufayColor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DufayColor</span></a> transparency. I like this photo of my mother, and the likelihood that father was concentrating so much on her when taking this, that he forgot about the small boy (my brother) playing in the background. Photo by Charles R, likely a Zeiss Super <a href="https://photog.social/tags/Ikonta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ikonta</span></a>. </p><p>Qualifies for a <a href="https://photog.social/tags/FensterFreitag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FensterFreitag</span></a> I think.</p>
ChrisR<p>His camera before the 1950s was a folding 6x9 120 camera, probably a Zeiss [Super] <a href="https://photog.social/tags/Ikonta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ikonta</span></a>. Sadly this has vanished. In the 1950s he got a Zeiss Ikonta 524/16 that I have inherited and still sometimes use (I would use it more, but I REALLY don't like the red window wind-on system!).</p>
