Silver Dory<p>First flowers out on the Grevillea 'Cupid's Dream' - popular with the local grass-darts. With classic hybrids like 'Pink Surprise' and 'Misty Pink' difficult to find in nurseries these days 'Cupid's Dream' could become an excellent alternative with sprays of pink flowers and deeply divided blue/green foliage. </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/InTheGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InTheGarden</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Grevilleas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Grevilleas</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/OzPLants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OzPLants</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Autumn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Autumn</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Butterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Butterflies</span></a></p>
Silver Dory<p>Grevilleas are always a good way to attract wildlife to your garden but these 'Cupid's Dream' hybrids are already proving popular with some of the smaller locals and I haven't even taken them out of the pots or removed the labels yet! (Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog - Litoria fallax).<br> <br><a href="https://aus.social/tags/InTheGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InTheGarden</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Grevilleas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Grevilleas</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Frogs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Frogs</span></a></p>
Silver Dory<p>Grevillea leptobotrys (garden/grafted) - low-mounding WA species featuring delicate sprays of uniquely shaped lilac/pink flowers + blue/grey foliage &amp; reddish new growth. An outstanding rockery feature now grown commercially (as 'Lilac Tangles') and widely available in general nurseries as grafted plants in SE NSW. Definitely worth a spot in the garden if you see one at you local nursery!</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/Grevilleas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Grevilleas</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/OzPlants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OzPlants</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/InTheGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InTheGarden</span></a></p>
Silver Dory<p>Grevillea hilliana (white yiel yiel / white silky oak) still flowering well in the garden in mid-December. A fair bit south of its natural range here at Corunna, NSW but has done well grafted onto G. robusta. Flowers open from yellow/green buds to impressive cylindrical clusters of white flowers </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/Grevilleas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Grevilleas</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/OzPlants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OzPlants</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/InTheGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InTheGarden</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Summer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Summer</span></a></p>
Silver Dory<p>Grevillea stenomera (grafted) - garden plant, Corunna, NSW. The flowers on this rare/vulnerable WA species are maybe not that spectacular but it's an outstanding accent foliage plant with attractive fine blue/grey leaves. </p><p>Grafted plants can do well in eastern summer humidity - this one on G. robusta rootstock is now almost 20 years old now and has been cut back to almost nothing several times. Unfortunately it's rarely seen in regular nurseries but definitely worth picking up from specialist native growers or rare plant sales if you see one!</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/Ozplants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ozplants</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Grevilleas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Grevilleas</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/InTheGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InTheGarden</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Conservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Conservation</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Biodiversity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Biodiversity</span></a></p>
Silver Dory<p>Grevillea 'Dorothy Gordon' flowering in the local nursery (Tilba Tilba, NSW) - good to see some excellent, larger plants of this distinctive hybrid in stock (and in flower) from local growers. Features both attractive flowers and foliage plus responds well to pruning and can be used as a striking native screen with a regular cut. Sometimes described as a G.beadleana hybrid but is apparently G. sessilis x G. paradoxa (according to the breeders). Definitely worth a spot in east coast Oz gardens (without heavy frosts) - not sure if it's available in other countries.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/Grevilleas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Grevilleas</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/InTheGarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InTheGarden</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/OzPlants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OzPlants</span></a></p>
