Dave Rahardja
I’ve seen a lot of body-shaming on my Facebook feed recently, mostly aimed at making fun of Elon or Trump for the way they look (Elon looks like Baron Harkonnen! Ha! Ha!), and although I see a lot of comments pushing back, there are plenty of people who think this is OK because we’re making fun of an awful person.

IT IS NOT OK TO BODY-SHAME, even when the person you’re making fun of is horrible. Horrible people are *never* horrible because of the way they look, only what they do. By making fun of their appearance, you’re unavoidably sending a message that certain body types are inherently bad or fit for ridicule. You’re being an asshole, even if you’re mocking a bad person.

Please make sure to call out instances of body- or appearance-shaming, *especially* in otherwise progressive and inclusive forums. It is never OK to make fun of people’s appearance.

#bodyShaming
