Things are happening in Serbia, people mobilizing and organizing to resist a corrupt authoritarian government.
No leaders, cooperation, solidarity, respect for differences.

One student explains (very well and in excellent English) how they're doing. The most interesting and HOPEFUL thing I've watched all week.

Fascinating #folklore project: a #map of #folk tunes gathered by Oskar Kolberg, great ethnographer of 19th century, to listen and download. Mostly territories of Commonwealth of Both Nations (that is, today's #Poland, #Lithuania, #Belarus and #Ukraine), but also #Lusatia, #Slovakia, #Slovenia, #Croatia, #BosniaHerzegovina and #Serbia. Sadly, not linked to lyrics, music only, but still a delightful journey.

As Kolberg worked in 19th century, his works obviously do not contain recordings, but the map gives #MIDI, #MusicXML and #EsAC.

As concerns grow over the future of US support for European security and EU nations ramp up defence spending, three countries in southeastern Europe have signed a military agreement to boost regional stability.

The deal signed by Albania, Croatia and Kosovo has angered Serbia, which doesn't recognise Kosovo as an independent state.

Did Serbia use a similar sound cannon to Romania in 1989?

Catalin Ranco Pitu, the former head of Romania's Military Prosecutor's Office has told DW that the sonic weapon allegedly used during the massive protest in Belgrade on 15 March was similar to the one used by the regime of communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu during the Romanian revolution in December 1989.
