@Moriel @stux North America has had so much more lumber more recently, really. Europe simply has a thousand year headstart on commercial deforestation. And, in more northerly climes, brick - or more likely stone - was simply better for handling cold weather. Yeah, indigenous North Americans have been using wood for millenia, but their #s were (relatively speaking) tiny and it was mostly scavenged wood that forests could sustainably replace.

@Lorrrraaaaine @mathew1927 Yeah so you're in the "Variant" camp. Sure,it's totally possible that we are just in between variants and that's most of what this is.

But the pattern is still really wacky, tbh. Numbers in the winter were all over the place, very disordered.

You guys in the NE are definitely the epicenter in North America right now, seems like. So I guess you're the ones to watch.

I have no idea why we have such low #s where I am.

Maybe everybody is too poor to travel now. :holdthepain:

@jeffjarvis And like Jim Stewartson said...premise alone is ludicrous...knowing WHEN a scientific discovery will happen?? Come on. He's going to go to his quacks; collect BS so called evidence & try to outlaw MMR vaccine.....it's like all these narcissists didn't get "enough" attention from this country & want pay bacak. Such thin skinned evil fukers! Their stats r already BS...clinicians didn't know how to diagnose autism back then & it's still very subjective diagnosis & some incl ADHD in #s

tbh I'm very puzzled about Covid this year.

Numbers are weird. We are at the lowest levels I've ever seen up here. And I look @ other charts in other places and it's similar.

=>4 possibilities:

1. Covid isn't in wastewater but still in people (i.e. it's not hitting the gut as hard) - I think this is unlikely but possible.

2. Wastewater numbers are being manipulated. In some jurisdictions that is no doubt true. In all of them? At the same time? Hmm.

3. Something else is interfering with Covid transmission. The Flu comes to mind. Some evidence that Flu infections raise interferon levels and make Covid less easy to contract (temporarily). Flu has been historically bad & the vaccine has been extremely badly ineffective (some evidence it runs at -20% efficacy!)

4. Maybe Covid needs a function immune system to spread well. That population is definitely rapidly dwindling. Interacts w/ 3 because people are now continuously sick w/ other shit.

5. COVID JUST WENT AWAY AND I AM ON REDDIT A LOT!

***

If 1 or 2, then we expect that wastewater #s will just stay "low" from here on out.

If it's 3, then we expect a big return of Covid once the Flu has well and truly left for the season.

If it's 4. Well. I guess numbers will stay much lower and decline further... but people ain't gonna like why. :bobross:
