Know Keeper

I tried a lot of different solutions to replace #omnivore after it was taken down. A few weeks ago I decided to open an empty IDE and write a replacement myself. It works without any #selfhosting and uses an email address as the "backend":

github.com/jersonal-com/KnowKe

It is in a very early stage but I would appreciate feedback. If you are interested join the Google group to get access and feel free to post feedback on GitHub.

If you're looking for an Omnivore alternative, don't forget that the Omnivore team published a blog post with our solution as a great option to replace it blog.omnivore.app/p/details-on

We have an Omnivore import system.

You can selfhost wallabag on your own webserver and you can also subscribe to wallabag.it/en (11€ / year, or 30€ if you ♥️ us).

In light of the recent #Omnivore acquisition, I recently published a brief overview of the various #selfhosted bookmark and read later apps that can easily replace popular hosted services. As usual, they're all fantastic and should be considered based on individual preferences and needs!

Finally got around to porting my saved links from #Omnivore over to raindrop.io, had to write a little script to convert the JSON from the Omnivore export to a CSV, and sadly couldn’t find my notes for the pages in my Omnivore export, but other than that, it worked really well!

In the process I got to try out the Raindrop #PWA which has some neat features like an iFrame preview of the links. All in all, I like this switch so far. 👌

pt 2 of the omnivore saga

wallabag was a bust for me, personally. in the end, it’s a toss-up between pocket and matter - all i need is a good tagging system and reader view

leaning towards matter for the better article suggestions and overall experience - but pocket wins on the non-intrusive paywall

i suppose i’ll test them side by side for a few more days
