I’d think, “Surely they have already thought of that…”
Or maybe they’ll be offended by my simplistic question...
Sure enough, someone more senior asks that same question, and it’s greeted with, “great question!”…
Now, I ask questions all the time.
I often prefix them with: “Just for my understanding…”

This statement was fired at me during a heated technical discussion with my boss earlier in my career.
It was quite a subjective discussion, so such an absolute statement stuck out like a sore thumb.
We very quickly recognised how ridiculous this statement was, and we both burst out laughing. 
Decisions, decisions, decisions…
Is this the right language to use? 
Is this the right framework to use?
Is this the right approach to this problem?
Many software developers are dogmatic and see things as "right" or "wrong"...
But the sooner you accept there is a spectrum between the "right approach" and "wrong approach", the better you'll sleep at night.
While it may be windy and cold outside right now, my geraniums soak up the sun and wait for their time to flourish. Sometimes, you need to sit out for a season and conserve your energy. Nothing lasts forever. If you’re in the middle of a storm right now, invest in your health and prepare for your eventual blooming season. It’s coming.
Confidence goes way beyond your technical skills…
This is what it can look like: Taking responsibility. Giving credit to others. Speaking up in meetings when you can add value. Staying quiet when you don’t have any value to add. Questioning the status quo when you see value in it. Picking up difficult stories because you can find a way…
