Yet another photo celebrating #folderweek. This Zeiss Super Ikonta 534 rekindled my love for 120 film folders two years ago, when I decided to leave the Hasselblad at home for my vacation. Being really old, the colors can come out a little off—but I actually like the vintage look. It also has some quirks with film spacing, requiring me to add a small piece of backing paper to the take-up spool to increase spacing. It works.

A couple people I know call these “cat nine tails” or “cat o’ nine tails” which, it turns out, is the name of a type of whip historically used for corporal punishment. I’m guessing this might a be a regional term for this plant, has anyone heard it outside of Maine? I’ve always just called them cattails.

Lobster pound, Swans Island Maine.
While “lobster pound” is colloquially used along the coast of Maine to refer to a casual seafood restaurant—often located by the ocean—where you can eat lobster. In the case of these photographs, the term can also mean a built enclosure in a cove or harbor to hold a large amount of lobster.
