Watched episode 5 of The Witch/Manyeo last night. The ML's behavior is stalking, full-stop, and the "rules" he's derived from the accidents seem to exist to justify that behavior. It seems pretty clear to me what's going on, and the explanation would be funny if she hadn't been bullied and lost everything. #kdramas

My husband and I watched The Roundup: No Way Out. Gooftastic, but you know that going in. Suddenly occurred to me that this franchise must be connected to the same team that did the Bad Guys shows, since it not only stars Ma Dong-Seok but has featured Choi Gwi-Ha, Kim Min-Jae, Kim Moo-Yul, and Ahn Seong-Bong. Also, Lee Jun-Hyuk was kind of hilarious as the psycho villain, but he was clearly enjoying himself. #kdramas

Sooooo excited!!!

The Host(2006) by director Bong Joon Ho, has been called one of the best monster horror films of the 21st century so far, and it has been listed among the greatest scifi films ever made.

It remains among South #Korea's highest-grossing films.

Tarantino described it as one of the greatest films of all time.

A remake/spinoff is in the works with Kang Full. He is the genius behind the webcomics & award-wining #kdramas Moving, Lightshop & The Witch (streaming now on Viki).

When I first watched CRASH LANDING ON YOU I was new to #kdramas and #kdrama archetypes and tropes. I also didn’t know the language at all.

I recently started rewatching CLOY and now that I am more familiar with Kdramas and a bit more familiar with the Korean language it’s even funnier. Like, it’s a lot funnier if you recognize the words “dongmu” and “dongji” (comrade/comrades) and notice when it’s used.

As my spouse and I work our way through our list of KDramas, we've had fun watching (sometimes struggling to understand) the English speaking scenes. But Kim Ji-won's performance in Queen of Tears has been impressive. Crystal clear, way to go!

It's interesting how in previous shows, actors will memorize English lines. They're technically correct, but stress the wrong syllables making it difficult to understand. That's probably how my Korean might sound to them.

In other news, still no American actors that are really American. It'll happen!

@aly73 Welcome, glad you made it here. Hashtags are VERY MUCH your friend, especially #bookstodon for books - adding @bookstodon will see your post auto-boosted too.

once you start typing after the hash, you'll get a dropdown showing the frequency of use - e.g. #KDrama is much more common than #KDramas

As for recs, I was born with a crippling case of congenital laziness, so here are my fave #reads

@altbot Even the actresses involved were blindsided because the production team essentially deepfaked them! They used body doubles and put the actresses’ faces on with CGI.

This is gross and I hope the actresses/their agencies bring a lawsuit over it, because it probably violates their contracts with the production company (at the very least).
