Zwei junge Menschen betrachten eine Installation im White Cube der Rostocker Kunsthalle. Als sie fort waren, habe ich gemerkt, wie schwer es ist, weiße Gegenstände in einem weißen Raum zu fotografieren. Erst ihre schwarze Kleidung, die Reflexionen der Glasscheibe und die andere Installation, die wie dunkles Laub aussieht, setzen Akzente im Foto.

Two young people look at an installation in the White Cube of the #Rostock Kunsthalle. When they were gone, I realized how difficult it is to photograph white objects in a white room. Only their black clothing, the reflections of the glass pane and the other installation, which looks like dark foliage, set accents in the photo.

Auch die Einfahrt einer Tiefgarage kann für interessante Fotos gut sein. Hier sorgt die Leuchtreklame eines Einkaufszentrums für farbige Reflexionen auf dem nassen Asphalt. Auch wenn die Schrittstellung nicht optimal ist, finde ich den starken Beschnitt mit Fokus auf die Beine und den Zebrastreifen am gelungensten.

Even the entrance to an underground parking garage can make for interesting photos. Here, the neon signs of a shopping center provide colorful reflections on the wet asphalt. Even if the step position is not ideal, I think the strong crop with focus on the legs and the crosswalk works best.

Zum #FotoMontag kommt uns bei Dunkelheit am Kuhtor in #Rostock ein Radfahrer entgegen. Zum Glück hatte er den Fotografen gesehen, der da wohl schon 15 Minuten in der Kälte hockte – bei dunstiger Luft sollte die Straßenlaterne im Hintergrund für eine Silhouette sorgen.

On #PhotoMonday, a cyclist comes towards us in the dark at Kuhtor in Rostock. Luckily, he had seen the photographer, who had probably been sitting there in the cold for 15 minutes - in the hazy air, the street lamp in the background was supposed to create a silhouette.

Unter einem historischen Torbogen hindurch fährt ein Radfahrer in Richtung des Betrachters. Es ist dunkel. Das Licht einer im Hintergrund stehenden Straßenlaterne lässt den Radfahrer als Silhouette erscheinen und sorgt für Schatten und Reflexionen auf dem Kopfsteinpflaster. Im Hintergrund sind eine mit Graffiti bemalte Betonwand, ein Geländer und eine Oberleitung erkennbar. Unter und hinter dem Tor stehen Poller unterschiedlicher Art. A cyclist rides under a historic archway in the direction of the viewer. It is dark. Beim Blick durch einen Durchgang zur anderen Bahnsteigseite in der U-Bahnstation Hauptbahnhof Süd in #Hamburg traute ich meinen Augen kaum. Die Frau stand mit dem Rücken zu mir, fast perfekt mittig zum Torbogen, die Farbe des Mantels passend zu den Fliesen des Durchgangs. Und dann lief auch noch die Taube ins Bild. Und ich erwischte diese dann auch noch in einem Moment mit überkreuzten Beinen – passend zu denen der Frau. Perfekt für den #FotoMontag!

I could hardly believe my eyes when I looked through a passageway to the other side of the platform in the Hauptbahnhof Süd subway station in Hamburg. The woman was standing with her back to me, almost perfectly centered to the archway, the color of her coat matching that of the tiles of the passageway. And then this pigeon ran into the picture. And I caught it at a moment with its legs crossed - just like the woman's legs. Perfect for #PhotoMonday!

Zum #StatuenSamstag zeige ich euch den alters- und gramgebeugt sitzenden Nereus als Teil des Möwenbrunnens in #Rostock. Na ja, zumindest einen kleinen Teil davon. Und für den Streetfotografen darf und soll natürlich gern die lebendige Umgebung mit ins Bild. Auf dem Neuen Markt sind immer Menschen unterwegs – manche verweilen, manche laufen wie hier nur über den Platz. Für dieses Foto stand ich einige Minuten mit hochgehaltener Kamera auf der Suche nach dem richtigen Bildausschnitt und auf die richtige Person für den Hintergrund wartend.

For #StatueSaturday, I'm showing you Nereus, bent over with age and grief, as part of the Seagull Fountain in #Rostock. Well, at least a small part of it. And for the street photographer, the lively surroundings can and should of course be included in the picture. There are always people out and about on the Neuer Markt - some lingering, some just walking across the square like here. For this photo, I stood for a few minutes with my camera held up, searching for the right frame and waiting for the right person for the background.

Kaum zu glauben, dass das Foto schon seit fast einem Jahr wartet, um mal hier gezeigt zu werden. Um mit dem 27mm f/2.8 an der X-T30II bei 1/10s ein scharfes Bild zu bekommen, brauchte ich hier noch einige Versuche und etwas Glück. Heute hat auch meine Immerdabei-Kamera IBIS und ich könnte mit der Belichtungszeit noch etwas rauf und dafür mit dem ISO-Wert von 12.800 noch etwas herunter gehen.

It's hard to believe that this photo has been waiting for almost a year to be shown here. To get a sharp image with the 27mm f/2.8 on the X-T30II at 1/10s, I needed a few more attempts and a bit of luck. Today, my everyday-carry-camera has IBIS too and I could go a little higher with the exposure time and a little lower with the ISO value of 12,800.

Abgestellt verstellen sie ständig die Sicht, in Bewegung sind sie eine Gefahr für den Fotografen, der ungewohnte Perspektiven sucht. Trotzdem darf hier ausnahmsweise ein Exemplar der Gattung Automobil groß ins Bild. Der heutige Post ist inspiriert von meiner gestrigen Unterhaltung mit @exil_inselette@norden.social, bei der Einigkeit bestand, dass Werbebanner, Verkehrsschilder und Autos gern gute Motive verderben. Vielleicht wollten sie nur mal selbst Motiv sein und geben dann jetzt nach?
