As the #NIH slashes funding for research into #Alzheimer's, #cancer, #COVID & #diseases that inflict pain & suffering, I'm heartbroken & furious. #Early-onset Alzheimer's took my father away from me &, more importantly, himself. Why would anyone in their right mind (right, the mind of the #fascist is almost incomprehensible) do such a thing? If nothing else, a selfish viewpt. says this is idiocy. These cuts are meant to bring us to our knees. Let's resist (& sue them into oblivion).

GumroadCyber Health: A Guide to Preventing Occupational Diseases in Cybersecurity ProfessionalsAs cybersecurity professionals, we find ourselves at the vanguard of defending critical systems and data. Our work is exacting, necessitating constant vigilance and adaptation to an ever-evolving digital landscape. However, the nature of our occupation also renders us a vulnerable group, susceptible to a range of health issues—both physical and mental —that can impede our career progression and, in some cases, result in its complete cessation. The extended periods spent in front of screens, the stress of managing high-pressure situations, and the constant mental focus required for the job take a considerable toll on our bodies and minds. Physical problems like eye strain, back pain, and repetitive stress injuries are common, but the mental challenges are often more insidious. Chronic stress, burnout, anxiety, and sleep deprivation have been demonstrated to have a detrimental effect on cognitive abilities, decision-making skills, and the ability to continue in a chosen profession. This guide has been developed with the participation of medical representatives and uses the most up-to-date evidence-based medicine articles, treatment protocols, and medical recommendations. The guide aims to shed light on the diseases that we, as cybersecurity specialists, are particularly prone to. The text will demonstrate how such health issues impact not only our daily well-being but also our career trajectories, and will share preventive measures to help us safeguard our health so we can continue to thrive in this vital field for years to come.Thank you for choosing Air Academy!

Sunsetting #openSNP - a retrospective by Bastian Greshake Tzovaras
In 2025, Bastian's "view is a lot more sober (and bleaker): Today it seems clear to me that the biggest impact on improving #health - even in the rich, allegedly ‘developed’ nations - would come from providing #food security and access to stable housing. And not from trying to find #genetic confounders of common #diseases that are a lot more rooted in those environmental & societal factors."
