You might ask me why you have changed your huddle on Bluesky to @lilythekitsunegirl.bsky.social ?

To tell you why I am getting harassed there and getting a hate campaign because of being Islamic person

Please follow my new bluesky account bsky.app/profile/lilythekitsun

If anyone tries to harassing me again. I'll request from him/her to unfollow me and leave the platform

Bluesky SocialLily (@lilythekitsunegirl.bsky.social)Greetings, dear wanderers! I'm Lily—a whimsical Kitsune with a curious spirit and a fondness for traversing both enchanted forests and digital realms. I relish meeting new souls and unearthing the mysteries of the Fediverse. ☝️ Perhaps the most interesting tidbit from this excellent report (read it all!), is this paragraph:

"The implication... is that Bluesky PBC judges a government’s request to remove content on its legal validity, and not on an ethical, moral, or other framework. If it is legally valid, Bluesky PBC will comply and limit access to that content in the applicable jurisdiction."

#Bluesky seems to be committing to abide by foreign government laws. This is a significant policy decision.

Clarification: There is some uncertainty as to the number of accounts actually censored by #Bluesky versus possibly blocked by some other means.

Here is a link to the İfade Özgürlüğü Derneği report:

ifade.org.tr/engelliweb/bluesk (English translation below)

So at least 13 accounts have been blocked by #Bluesky, but it is not clear how the 59 adjudicated accounts are being blocked.

Separately, Fediverse Report has the number of accounts blocked by Bluesky at 18: fediversereport.com/bluesky-ce

hi! if you've noticed that exposur.es is down, it's bc it's expensive and i can't shoulder it alone!

my plan is to leave it down until we can migrate to @bonfire later this year, so if you'd like to help make that a reality, i set up a Liberapay and will happily find a way to accept other financial contributions for the project!

remember: exposur.es is not merely a custom fediverse instance or a singular technology, but a safe haven for artists!

liberapay.com/exposur.es/

Liberapayexposur.es's profile - Liberapayexposur.es is a safe haven for artists to share their artwork unimpeded by censorship and liberated from exploitative corporations.

@PattyHanson As with my #13thReincarnation on the #Xhitter, I have an account on #BlueSky. But it is clear I have been #shadowbanned and it's not worth the time or effort. I find the culture there a lot like small servers on Mastodon. They are ruled by what I call #WizzardsOfTheSilo, usually the person who runs the server to push a personal agenda and be the #Cynosure #DancingQueen youtu.be/xFrGuyw1V8s?feature=s Watch out for #ElmosFlushFlap on the #Xhitter

☝️ No Comment From Bluesky On Its Censorship Of Turkish Users

One really interesting aspect of this entire matter is this last sentence...

"Bluesky has not publicly commented on the recent restrictions."

#Bluesky CEO Jay Graber is all over the media talking about how the corporate social media platform is "decentralized" and "safe from billionaires", but no comment on political censorship of its users.

[Edited: removed number of accounts due to some uncertainty. See below]

Interesting deep-dive on #Bluesky country-level #censorship. Instinctively I prefer the idea of a single worldwide network, so that it could push back on, say, Turkey by saying “I’m not going to remove posts worldwide just for you”, but there are big failure modes with that approach too. It may be that Bluesky has hit on a workable compromise here. fediversereport.com/bluesky-ce

Separately, Bluesky voluntarily made 13 accounts and one post inaccessible in Turkey, likely in response to legal pressure... Bluesky has not publicly commented on the recent restrictions."

[Edited headline due to some uncertainty. See below]

Federation means very little, can it somewhat be a game of cat and mouse if the government is incompetent or doesn’t care much. But, it’s nothing to apply harassment and significant amounts of pressure on server admins, these are real people with real life’s & friends and families. There’s also the great firewall of China which many know how problematic that is. It’s also trivial for governments to apply pressure to ISPs and server providers. Federation isn’t some silver bullet, nor are people immune to anxiety due to threads by people in power. But, keep pointing your fingers and pretending the #fediverse is so much more resilient. We’re seeing governments and corporations with resources to stand up to the Trump administration bend to his will. #Musk and #Trump are extremely petty people and there’s nothing stoping them if they wanted to turn their attention towards Bluesky and the Fediverse. #fedi #atproto #bluesky #Mastodon

Okay, let’s discuss. But if you are incapable then don’t bother. First criteria is that you must state explicitly what you’d do as an admin if governments particularly those known consistently for violating humans right made requests to you. I can assure you federation doesn’t eliminate government actions. I keep saying people criticize #Bluesky for complying with a legal request. Also many of you are spouting disinformation/misinformation (not surprising) but I’d recommend reading https://fediversereport.com/bluesky-censorship-and-country-based-moderation/ Anyways, many people here have panic attacks & go on blocking sprees due to people saying mean words. You’re trying to tell me those same people will be bold enough to resist governments? Many people beg for donations, you’re telling me those people will have monies to challenge the government in court? #fediverse #fedi #mastodon
