Luigi Mangione may get a laptop in jail to work on his defense in CEO murder case
@ProPublica The first #ICE wannabe #Gestapo agent that gets killed while kidnapping someone’s son, daughter, wife, husband, mother, father or abuela will be ‘memorialized’ like ‘what’s his name’, the #UnitedHealthcare CEO that was shot by #LuigiMagione.

The dossier adds that the public “may view the ensuing manhunt and subsequent arrest of Mangione as NYPD, and largely policing as a whole, as a tool that is willing to expend massive resources to protect the wealthy, while the average citizen is left to their own means for personal security.”
“Many view Thompson as a symbolic representation of both as reports of insurance companies denying life sustaining medication coverage circulate online.” the report says. “It is not an unfair comparison to equate the current reaction toward Mangione to the reactions to Robin Hood, citizens may see Mangione’s alleged actions as an attack against a system designed to work against them.”

Hey, look at that! They're trying to set him up and won't share all of the evidence they've already presented. #UnitedHealth #UnitedHealthcare

I'm one of the 74,000 people impacted by this breakdown of contract negotiations between UnitedHealthcare and OHSU. I see specialists for a rare condition at OHSU, so this is a personal nightmare for me. If I lose coverage at OHSU, I'm going to be losing critical care for myself (and family members with the same condition).

#UnitedHealthcare denied my prescription claim for a $20 jug of laxative I require for a procedure that had to be rescheduled. But I'm only authorized to have 1 jug per 365 days, as was carefully explained to me by 2 different people at 2 different companies.
Now I'm on the phone with the prior authorization service, OptimumRX, who my doctor called after I called them because #UHC sent them on the runaround.
The end result of all this is that I've wasted 3 hours of my extremely valuable time (who do I bill at UHC for that?) And I've wasted several hours of time for my doctor, nurses, and employees at various call centers. For a $20 jug of laxative, I've cost several companies hundreds of dollars.
It isn't just life saving procedures they screw us on. uS Healthcare is designed to suck every bit of life and money out of you, even on the petty stuff. Especially on the petty stuff.
Luigi didn't go nearly far enough.
UnitedHealth Is Sick of Everyone Complaining About Its Claim Denials

「 UnitedHealth submitted a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission asking for approval to block a shareholder proposal that it use a third-party auditor to assess “previous customer denial claims, particularly where a death was involved, to determine if denial letters included factually incorrect and insensitive information.” 」

From the Stat newsletter: #UnitedHealthcare is facing potential shareholder lawsuits and multiple government investigations, including a Department of Justice antitrust probe focused on how it uses its physician workforce to benefit its insurance business. While it largely remains in a defensive crouch, #UnitedHealth has begun pushing back, enlisting libel attorneys to go after critics on social media, attempting to squelch dissent from shareholders, and publicly blaming hospitals and drug companies for high prices. It is also moving to align itself with the new Trump administration.
